Interviewed a young Actress Today, saw just how these Weinstein-types operate

Without going into too much detail, I had a sit down interview with a young, working actress today. She was probably about 20 and an absolute knockout.
She is not a star or even recognizable, only some small independent movies. She was charismatic, but you could tell almost instantly she had such a desire and almost desperation to become famous she would do almost anything to make it.
She was so vulnerable, you could see just how these monsters like Weinstein took advantage of these people just and did the sickest things imaginable without any fear of consequence.
This girl was already screwed up too. She said she had no friends because she travelled all the time going to different modeling and acting gigs. At fan near any college campus in the country she would've easily been one of the top 10 hottest girls, but in her industry who knows where'd she be. You could tell she had virtually zero self confidence and self esteem, it was very sad to see. She wanted so desperately to be liked by everyone, you could tell she was not really a real person anymore... Even at such a young age.
The older I've gotten the more I've learned and seen what goes on behind the scenes in the media and film industry, and very often it's downright depressing.
This clip by Joe Rogan is so dead on.

And yet multiple people in the industry turned a blind eye to it. Multiple.

-Hectic lifestyle
-No friends
-Desire for fame or approval
-Self-esteem and confidence issues
This young lady is the poster child for substance abuse to fill whatever void she has. Fame and money is no substitute for family and friends. Our life, our legacy, is based on the relationships we have with those close to us.

Insecurity from fear of not getting the next gig makes them easy pray for powerful people

That's an awfully long post to read and not find out if you hit it. Smh.

Picturegoer announced its four-part series about the film industry’s casting couch culture on the cover of the July 14, 1956 issue, right next to a glamour shot of actress Victoria Shaw.

Nobody is outraged on behalf of the potted plants. I'm pretty sure they didn't want to be dragged into all this. They can't even run away.
Joking aside, yeah, its easy to see how people like Weinstein have been able to operate for so long. An article I read recently summed it up in that they can not only keep you from getting one role or job, with their power they can blackball you in Hollywood and end your career.
Goodbye life dreams.
That is a terrible thing to face when you are a struggling young actor or actress. Especially if you happen to be a teenager.

I'm not defending Weinstein at all. He's a piece of shite and I'm not deafening or dismissing sexual assualt, however, if I'm being honest, I have trouble finding sympathy for someone who, as a consenting and fully aware adult, sells their soul in exchange for millions of dollars and an easy life with no real work required.
These people weren't little kids. They're adults who chose their lifestyle and their profession. They sold their morals and their soul for a shot at a life less than 1% of the population could dream of leading.
And what's worse is that they achieved that dream and then buried all the nightmares and just let Weinstein continue to prey. How long had that dude been doing this? Everyone in Hollywood knew it and no one would do anything about it because unveiling that nightmare would threaten their dream life. frick the whole lot of them. From Weinstein to all of his passive complicit accomplices.
Should Weinstein be allowed to be the gatekeeper of power and assault? Hell no.
But his victims that have come forward have more than enough money to start a studio and cleanly chooses actors and actresses and shield them from the abuse. None of them did it. It's easier to remain complicit and rich and on easy street than risk toppling down your cushy life.

There have been actresses that just disappeared. Mira Sorvino is one.
Kind of makes you wonder who was blackballed. Also makes you wonder how some stars got so many movies so fast.

The Weinstein scandal didn't surprise me.
Way back in the late 80's when there was no such thing as internet porn, we had to turn to other media, mostly magazines.
I remember looking at a Hustler mag (that was pretty raunchy), which was run by Larry Flynt. For some reason, I do remember some of the articles too; and there was one that pretty explicitly laid out Harvey Weinstein as a powerful molester and predator. Now, at the time nobody took anything written in those mags seriously, because it was "tasteless porn"... but in retrospect the article was dead-on.
Kinda makes me curious what else was exposed (no pun intended) in those mags.

I wonder if the products would be appreciably better if actors and actresses as well as other creative positions in the industry were actually chosen based on merit?
Or, are there so many talented people trying to make it that they can choose talent AND ones who are willing to sleep with the powerful predators?

What happened in the Weinstein’s situation has not only been going on in Hollywood for a long time but also in human history. People don’t want to hear it but It’s human nature. Women are attracted to power and status. And Weinstein’s has them and he used them to gain access to sexual favors from these beautiful women. Had Weinstein had a normal 9-5 job, would these women approach him? Nope. On the other side, had these women been ugly, would a powerful producer bother with them? Nope.
