The way people on this site preemptively wish for movies to fail will never cease to amaze me. So much anger for no reason. Just wait for the friggin thing to come out and see if it's any good! Didn't we just go through this with Avatar? I for one am a huge Harrison Ford fan, I think the original Raiders is one of the greatest movies of all time, so I'm rooting for this one.

No one WISHES for the movies to fail. How do you even arrive at that? It's the current trend in Hollywood to intentionally destroy established franchises and iconic characters though that the fans are done with.

How you don't see that is suspect as hell, since they directors and writers flat out state that's absolutely their intent.

Why would a director gleefully admit they're going to malign the star character. One who in this case is clearly making his last appearance on screen. Same as Taika Waititi who went out of his way to tell fans he was going to destroy thier mythos. Or the writers of She-Hulk, who grinned at 'owning the trolls', who are in reality just fans of the thing SHE'S working on but has chosen to destroy it instead.

Yes, this movie will fail like Rings of Power failed and so many others.

Then you should have wanted him to remain ridden off into the sunset, literally, at the end of Last Crusade. We got three classic movies with an iconic character. why do we need to witness the guy all the way into a retirement home? Can't we allow the character to remain ageless in our minds the way we last saw him, at his best?

Instead, we've now gotten a dead Han Solo,

a dead and emasculated Luke Skywalker,

a dead and Mary Poppins Leia.

Now a geriatric Indiana Jones?

I don't want this to fail...I don't want ANYTHING to fail. What I want is for Hollywood to fricking STOP rebooting old IPs and allow old stories to remain, and start creating NEW stories.

Ouch. Flashbacks of suckery from those garbage films.

We WANT good movies.

THEY give us bad movies. Why is that hard to understand?

I thought ANDOR was extremely good. I'm not a 'hater'; I just hate garbage.

Attacking the fans as 'toxic' is insane. Those people paid the bills and made STAR WARS, STAR TREK, etc. valuable I.P.

What if the movie is great? It's not out yet.

Again, IT'S NOT OUT YET. I'm just asking you to save your anger until the movie is released and humans have actually seen it. This wishcasting for failure is bizarre. It's ok to worry they've screwed it up, but that's not what you're doing.

It shouldn't exist. At all. It's only going to exist because Disney is trying to milk money out of a known IP, and idiots high on nostalgia will pay then, "In case it's 'good.'"

Why do we need to have an infinite number of movies in a franchise? Does EVERY story need a perpetual storyline, an extended universe, etc?

Can we not be pleased we got three fantastic movies with an iconic character in his prime and leave it at that?

Doesn't matter that it's not out yet. It never needed to be made at all. (Crystal Skull proved that much) And we've seen trailer clips (before the massive reshoot, fwiw) 2 months ago.

Ford is 80. Sean Connery was 60 (though acting a bit older, I suppose) when he played Indy's dad in Last Crusade.

There's no need to have a senior citizen running around getting in fights and horseback riding like he's still in his 30's or 40's.

And it's not anger. How do you misread that so massively? It's disappointment, mostly, and disgust at Hollywood for overwriting a beloved character for the sake of promoting #MeToo bullshite agenda.

Oh yes, just watch. It's coming.

And unless he's The Flash, Indy isn't dodging bullets from guys standing right next to him simply by ducking under a table. That'd just dumb writing. I don't care who you are.

Three words: Top Gun: Maverick. The greatest movie since Godfather Part II. By your logic, it should never have been made.

Cope.

*ETA - i’m assuming you’re pretty young because 60-80 is vastly different than 40-60. Plus, we’re talking about Tom Cruise, who has done his own stunts more than anyone save for likely Jackie Chan?

Harrison Ford has crashed how many planes? It exceeds any believability that he would be galloping on horseback, or throwing punches with guys half his age.

Also, James Bond will take a 2-year break and is being 're-imagined.'

No Time To Die was delayed for two years. They knew going into it that it would be Craig’s last Bond movie. Why in the hell do they need more time to figure out a James Bond movie? That franchise is run by a bunch of idiots that killed that brand.

Nobody would be here saying anything if not for the dumbass director out there being provocative and intentionally trying to stir people up.

“Re-imagined” as a definition in 2023 is much different than when those were made

It's kind of funny how in these threads we always blame the generic concept of "Hollywood," and never talk about the actors themselves rolling up in the motorized wheelchairs to make another cash grab. They're not being forced to star in these things, are they?

The worst crime of all is de-aging.
Deepfake Luke Skywalker didn't look right. Leave Indy alone.
