For your post to be taken seriously, the movie you choose must be a certified "cult classic".

I think you all know me well enough to know what my answer is: Halloween III: Season of the Witch

Honorable mention: In The Mouth of Madness

Hellraiser was the last horror movie I ever watched. After it I said "Nope, no more. frick this genre."

Do we really have to do this thread three times a week for the entire month?

Yes. It's Halloween. We will have have a "favorite scary movie" thread and a "favorite scary TV episode thread" and a "scary movies for kids thread"

I believe The Monster Squad was a very mainstream movie. It was popular when it came out. I don't think it counts in the "cult classic" genre.

which Texas Chainsaw had Matthew McConaughey in it? That one would definitely be worthy of the "cult classic" moniker.

Evil Dead 2, of course.

But I'm glad both In the Mouth of Madness and Trick r Treat have gotten mentions. If we want to dig deeper into cult movies, then I have a soft spot for The Lady in White. Most terrifying PG-13 movie ever.
