Under what context exactly?

Interstellar was one of the first films to provide an accurate depiction of time dilation in Einstein's relativity. Still a lot of people have a hard time grasping it and I get the feeling that many people think it's fiction (it's not - time dilation is very real).
Eerything in the movie is exactly how it would happen in real life given such circumstances. Nolan actually hired a Nobel prize winning physicist as the technical advisor. He told Nolan he would put his name on it only as long as it didn't stray too far from real physics.

So I just finished seeing this for the very first time. What an incredible movie.
If I can find Ex Machina streaming anywhere, I promise I'll get to that one next, Esquire.

It did a good job of illustrating the larger point, which I think many just gloss over or don't consider at all. This is doubly true for science fiction.
I know that Hollywood is rife with "twin movies" (think Dante's Peak/Volcano; Armageddon/Deep Impact, etc), but until I finally saw this one this week, I didn't realize just how on the nose Interstellar and The Martian were at first glance, if all you knew was the poster/DVD box.
That Matt Damon & Jessica Chastain are in both only further muddies the water until you've seen them.

Watching Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson in that movie and turning around and watching them in TLJ will strengthen anyone’s hated for Rian Johnson.
Also, Alicia Vikander and Sonoya Mizuno.

Esquire has been persistently nudging me to check that one out. Slowly, but surely I'm getting through my backlog of films that I have no business having missed to this point.
Interstellar was outstanding and I'm sad that it took me 10 years to finally catch it. Mrs. Vox refuses to take my recommendation and watch it, because I persuaded her to watch The Dark Knight 15 years ago and she hated it. She now distrusts Christopher Nolan.

I own Inception and she jokes that she has a dream about watching it, so she doesn't need to bother now.
She holds a cinematic grudge.

What? The Martian and Interstellar are NOTHING alike.
Movie boxes aside, the others you mentioned are all very similar in plot. But those two movies (which are both great) don't fit into that mold at all.

Agreed. It's arguably my favorite movie of all time. Certainly one of my favorite theater experiences ever.
