To change the subject....
I really need to see Oldboy. It's probably the biggest movie I have not seen and I don't know why I've held out so long.

15. Requiem for a Dream (2000)...haven't seen
14. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)...this is the type of movie people still talk about decades later
13. Spirited Away (2001)...never heard of this
12. The Pianist (2002)...not in my top 15 of the decade
11. The Lives of Others (2006)...never heard of it
10. The Departed (2006)...good movie but not in my top 15 of the decade. Scorcese has made much better
9. Amélie (2001)...never heard of
8. Wall-E (2008)...even with it's left-wing overtones it was still entertaining. Shouldn't be on this list much less above "Finding Nemo"
7. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)...should be above "Fellowship"
6. Memento (2000)...this movie would be on the bubble for me
5. Up (2009)...this is the reason you can't take these fricking lists serious
4. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)...should be behind "The Two Towers"
3. City of God (2002)...haven't seen it yet
2. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)...should be number 1
1. The Dark Knight (2008)...loved this movie but it wouldn't make my list. "Batman Begins" would've

Just don't go in expecting this amazing movie. It gets a lot of hype, and I've already it said it makes my top 5 for the decade most likely, but still...have a tempered outlook.

Didn't realize this was in the decade. A fantastic movie.

Got it. I think that's what happened to me on Hurt Locker. I was so excited and the... bleh. It was good, but it didn't blow my doors off or anything.
And I saw a great line concerning Up. Anyone who could hate a film so beautiful and funny is in deep need of a hug.

I still haven't seen Up, I know I need to because I always enjoy Pixar movies.

Just warning you, the first reel is more brutal than Bambi.
I think the first half of Wall-E is the greatest animated film ever made. The second half isn't as good, but it's still a terrific movie. Up, I believe, isn't quite on the same level, but it is yet another Pixar triumph. Their worst movie is Cars, which is actually pretty good. And other than that, all of their movies are very good. Their run of success is absurd.

Noted, I will wait until I need to be bummed out, ha

I loved it to, but my favorite animated film is probably Iron Giant. The end of that, wow.

Agree, except I wouldn't call it good, mediocre-bad maybe.

Completely. I don't see how they can just be so successful no matter what they do. They now have a run that is probably better than Disney's 80-90's run of really great movies. And their movies are even more entertaining for adults.

+1.
I have it DVR'd in my bedroom. Sometimes when I wake up and can't fall back to sleep, I watch the first half. It's so absorbing and with so little sound. Simply beautiful.

i actually think batman begins is a better film than the dark knight.
I agree, but we are in the minority. I'm not sure either would be in my top 15, but Begins would be close.

I have not made a top 15 for this decade, and probably won't (I know you're all disappointed), but I think the following films would be on or near my list, along with several that have already been mentioned:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Mystic River
Traffic
O Brother Where Art Thou
Some of these may have actually been in the latter part of the 90's. Again, this is off the top of my head and I'm sure there are others I liked if I went back and researched it.

I think they are all 2000s, but I would like to note for the record that I think Traffic is a movie more ludicrous than Reefer Madness.

Of the movies I listed, it was probably my least favorite.
