Imagine how cringe it must be on the set of unscripted comedies at times

Obviously, some of the funniest moments come from unscripted comedies, but the parts that make it on the show/movie are the best ones. Imagine all the horrible cringe jokes and moments that happen while these people are trying to make stuff up on the spot.

About 50% of the Sat Night Live skits seem to be like this

Doubtful. Most of the time when I see clips of sketches, they are all PAINFULLY reading cue cards just off from the camera. Like so much so that it distracts from the skit itself.

I listened to the Curb Your Enthusiasm rewatch podcast when Garlin and his wife in the show did it (they scrapped it after they finished season 5) and they made it seem that word perfect actors were the ones who couldn't really cut the mustard on set and kind of messed with the flow.

It's even worse when they don't write the dialog at all and then insist the actors just "come up with stuff."
While not it's ONLY problem, a lot of bad scenes/jokes from that all-female Ghostbusters movie were the direct result of the director just telling them to "be funny."
