Lost seems like one of those shows that will have a finale like The Sopranos. One where everyone just stares at the TV after it goes blank and just says "wtf, THAT'S IT?!??" I wouldn't be surprised that if they pull that move this place could reach "Ole Miss fiasco" levels considering the amount of Lost fandom that is apparent on here.
Yeah and my guess as to the end...
Both timelines will continue to "exist"
It's the only "logical" conclusion that will be closed off, yet allow questioning.

I'm not sure of that at all. MIB is still unaccounted for in the alternate timeline, and the Island is at the bottom of the ocean, something he plans to do in the original timeline. Its been implied that him escaping can lead to the apocalypse, and he likely did so in the alternate timeline.

Watch the recap. Its almost impossible to explain to someone who hasn't watched it. I know what I said earlier just sounds like pure insanity.

to extend the storyline of an arc that should have lasted about 3 seasons, combined with the inability to know how to finish it, this show really added layer after layer after layer, brah

The smoke monster/MIB on LOST is finally defeated by Jack Bauer after he learns from the Russian President that MIB was really behind the assassination or Renee.
Jack Bauer is bigger than the island

I'm just pissed that Freauxzen won't be watching this live. I am going to need some help to combat you moonbats and wingnuts if the finale does not live up to the hype.
Having said that, I hope I am blown away, but I have a feeling I am not going to like the resolution of the alternate time line.

I'm iffy about that as well. I just really have no idea how this show will end. Then again "Happily Ever After" blew me away, and that took place almost entirely in the alternate timeline. And I had low expectations going into "Through the Looking Glass" because it was a Jack episode, but that one blew my socks off. Hopefully this will be the same and surpass my expectations.

Yeah same here. I did read somewhere that said the last 15 minutes will make television history

You do know that the show is going to end with Patrick Duffy walking out of the shower and into the bedroom where Bob Newhart is asleep in a bed. He wakes up to tell Duffy that he just had a strange dream.
Then the camera changes to someones hand writing with a pen on paper. "The End."
And the camera pans out and Roseanne has just finished her second novel.
She looks outside the window by her writing desk and snow falls hard in the winter night.
The camera slowly pans out again to reveal a snowglobe that Rainman is looking at.

For better or worse, this will undoubtably happen. LOST will go down as one of the most remembered shows in television history.

it may just be me, but i don't think lost has this long-lasting, widespread following
it will be a more popular twin peaks, as it is the populist fantasy version of twin peaks

LOST will certainly be remembered for its heavily serialized story telling, what it did for online fan involvement in shows, and for having a large mythology. Twin Peaks is still remembered fondly, they just knew it wasn't a good idea to reveal who Laura Palmer's killer was.

Best ending ever.
