So... FF needs to do well or Disney might just scrap the MCU...

Nonsense. They still have the X-Men. Marvel might not be the juggernaut they once were, but most of their films are still doing well. This narrative that they're failing has gotten out of hand.

Spider-Man made 1.9 bil
D&w 1.4
Dr Strange 2 900 mil
GOTG 3 and BP over 800 mil
Thor 4 700+

Other studios would kill for those numbers

But we have multiple flops in a row. At some point you have to start weighing the wins with the losses

Also, Spider-Man was still Sony, right?

You have to weigh those numbers against BNW, Thunderbolts, Marvels, Quantumania, etc

also, minus DW (which is just an event, moreso than an MCU property) the last year has been really bad. . .. counting the streaming properties.

Since 2023 started you have 2 wins (Deadpool and Guardians 3)

4 losses (BNW, Thunderbolts, The Marvels, Quantumania)

Combine this with the fact that they NEED excitement around FF to lead into Doomsday and Secret Wars. If it can't provide that, there will AT LEAST be a ton of scrambling.

If an Avengers movie tanks, that might be the end

Audiences are getting pickier, and some people have just stopped going to the movies. Marvel can't get away with crap like Quantumania and The Marvels anymore. But make good X-Men and avengers films and they'll be just fine.

Apparently daredevil had worse numbers than both echo and Agatha all along which is pathetic

I think the audience is losing faith in Marvel.

They give them plenty of chances. A ton of the movies you listed that made money, are ALSO the reason people trust Marvel less.

Thor and Wakanda Forever were pretty bad. I think Love and Thunder is the worst Marvel production to date. Yes, worse than Marvels and Echo. It only made money because people still trusted them.

Strange 2 was kind of a mess

I thought Guardians 3 was just OK. Funnily enough, I thought the villain and the serious Rocket storyline was the only saving grace. . .the Gunn humor formula fell flat.

They need to rebuild trust. I am biased as a fan, but going with Shalla Bal seems to be a signal that they don't GAF about giving fans what they want,

And it was significantly better than both

That further proves the trust isn't there.

It was still pretty bad. The writing was weird to put it lightly. Completely wasted getting the original cast back together

All this is true, but I don't think it was bad

The finale not tying up ANYTHING really pissed me off

And? Marvel makes the film. Feige is the producer.

Assuming Disney has gotten the specific streaming audience that they have been courting (left of center and more female skewed) that makes sense. A certain number of people are going to cancel their streaming service after stuff like the Acolyte.

I should be an easy target for Marvel content and find myself really skeptical of anything Disney touched

I agree that daredevil struggling is concerning. That should've been a home run for Marvel. The good news is that Agatha really overperformed. It did better than othe comic book shows like DD and The Penguin

Its already been pushed back. Rumors are that Chris Pratt will be the lead of Secret Wars and Pedro Pascal's role might be cut down in Doomsday so it sounds like Marvel thinks it might flop. They are supposed to do a hard reset after Secret Wars with Disney bringing in their own X-Men actors.

I have serious Pascal fatigue. He’s in too many things in this genre. And while he can be a pretty good actor at times it’s also very similar from role to role and he has become fairly toxic and unlikeable as well.

If it flops, it will be Pedro Pascal's fault or because people are not really interested in a 6th reboot of the same story.

Huh? This is his first time being in the super hero genre

Overexposure? Sure but nobody is calling him toxic

While I agree that the second Wonder Woman movie sucked so bad we should all pretend it doesn't exist, he was still in it

I don't think that makes him overexposed in the genre though.

He's been pretty vocal politically lately, which will make him toxic to some. Which no matter what end of the spectrum you lean, I think most could admit is pretty dumb given Disney's struggles in that regard. They don't need any extra help keeping people from going to their movies.

Can cost be a point of conversation?

I enjoyed Thunderbolts but it wasn’t worth the $30 for tickets plus the $26 for snacks. That was just for me and my son.

Going to the movies should be an easy family outing and these movies aren’t really the experience they think they are.
