Iceman cut off Maverick.

Maverick and Goose had the shot.

Iceman and Slider created the jet wash.

Agree.

Should have been investigated.

I've heard Navy pilots talk about this; it's still strange to me that the RIO pilot gets jettisoned first in the ejection sequence when the canopy is to separate and fly backwards due to airspeed.

They also said there were real life instances where a RIO did hit his head on the canopy during a flatspin because the canopy didn't separate enough.

The conclusion was also that Mav was at fault.

He forced a compressor stall by having a too high angle of attack during a slow speed dogfight (as seen by how close the jets are to each other)...and he stalled.

In fact, he didn't react correctly to a flatspin with the rudders.

Also all the dogfights in Top Gun are apparently ridiculous as the jets are WAY TOO CLOSE. Optimum distance is miles apart.

We prolly watched the same video by the same guy. Modern dog fights are engagements miles away. No one really engages that close anymore is what I heard.

The MiGs in TopGun were within missile range of the Enterprise at 100 miles.

Also, the Red October could have fired her missiles at the United States from the Barn in Polyarnny.

If the canopies were that close together for the Poloroid the rudders would have been slapping together.

There is so much wrong with this movie from a military standpoint it's not even funny. Still love the movie, but it's total crap.

I'm looking forward to Maverick, looking at the cast Jennifer Connelly is playing "Penny Benjamin" and she has a daughter. Looks like Mavericks high speed pass over one Admirals daughter may have caused his own jet wash.

The pilots who made the movie admitted this. It was just so they could see both aircraft in the frame.

Yeah its not very cinematic if Goose says, "Mav we got a bogey on us."

And there's a speck off in the distance.

Also to be fair, “miles apart” isn’t as noticeable since these aircraft are massive.

The place where I watch the air show is over like a 10 mile stretch and them being a mile away from each other looks like they’re still pretty close.

Setting aside the technical inconsistencies, Maverick and Iceman were two roosters in the henhouse fighting to be cock of the rock. Both were reckless. Maverick went below the hard deck earlier to get Jester and got his arse busted and his cockiness again got him blasted when he broke formation to go after Viper and was taken out.

Don't blame Iceman. They both screwed up.
