Tombstone is a national treasure. It's one of the great westerns ever made. It's easily one of the most quotable films of all time.

Val Kilmer stole that film with his interpretation of Doc Holliday.

Kurt Russell was awesome and so was Kilmer as Doc Holliday.

So were Powers Booth as Curly Bill, Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo and Sam Elliot as Virgil Morgan.

And how can you not love Dana Delany?

How old are you? Just asking because it's hard to see how someone above the age of 25 could have gone this long without seeing this movie. It's been on TV on some station every week for 30 years

I prefer Tombstone over Wyatt Earp but I actually always liked Wyatt Earp's Josie Marcus better.

Joanna Going

I liked the Mattie from Tombstone better though.

there's a difference between shitting on it and saying that it doesnt rival the cinematic quality of the Godfather. i dont think a single person in this thread is shitting on Tombstone. it's a great movie.

However, I have a large group of friends/acquaintances for whom this is their Godfather or Goodfellas, and I just can’t put it on that level or even in the same tier.

Of course not. That’s absurd.

But it’s a good popcorn flick and honestly is worthy watching just for Kilmer.

I'm pretty sure there were production problems or something with the movie so that could be related, but I agree it would have been better if they had shown more scenes of them taking out Cowboys.

I believe the production problems came to a head when they fired the original director. After that, rumor is that Kurt Russell took over and shadow directed the movie, which is why the lines are so good but the editing is lacking in places(film&story). It’s was an actor’s set and an actor’s movie.

It’s no godfather but I’d watch Tombstone 100/100 times over goodfellas.

My absolute favorite quote from the movie. Ringo was expecting a very winnable showdown with Wyatt Earp and when Doc shows up from the shadows the OMG look on his face followed up with this quote was perfect.
