I thought it was pretty damn awesome actually. One of the better Netflix orginals ive ever seen and it has a pretty awesome cast. It’s basically about 5 guys trying a cartel heist that doesnt go to plan.

I usually like posting about movies that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time cause I want others to do the same. I always come here to see if someone has something to say about a new movie.

With that said, everyone should check it out.

It was ok. Entertaining for the most part but nothing special

Little bit of a letdown with that cast. I expected more.

i agree. a ton of things people did out of character which lead to what happened.

And what an idoit for Isaac character to not get the coords. That was just there to tease a squeal.

I liked it, but something just felt off the whole movie. Probably because:

The only reason the heist didn't go to plan because they did not stick to the plan. They're professionals.

well, they were professionals.

spoilers...

they set it up as Affleck feeling like a failure and going flat broke. I thought it made sense to have him be the greedy one, essentially screwing everything up by waiting around too long and convincing his buddy the chopper could carry all that cash.

Well you take any movie FWIW.

Spoilers:
Yeah they should have left earlier and got greedy in the house. They were greedy up until the end. Im not saying that it was the greatest movie as far as the writing goes, but the story was intriguing and kept me thoroughly entertained from start to finish with great acting. Thats all you can ask for out of a movie. I dont harshly critique a movie I enjoy.

but why? he was the leader that always stuck to plan. hell Jax Teller even called him out on it.

which bring up another issue. they knew they would be flying over the andes. so 8k wasnt the limit. and the Pilot would know what it was. All they had to do was go to the bas of one of those peaks. toss out enough to fly over, and come back and get it later.

I thought it was almost unwatchable.

Absolutely zero meaningful character development. Just patchy parts and pieces of stories. Then the plot seems to just go in circles. I was eager to watch it and terribly disappointed.

well its a 2 hour movie, not an 8 season TV show. And there actually was character development. When you have 5 big names in an action type movie, you arent gonna get love story character development. You are being overly-harsh in saying its unwatchable. Everyone else in this thread might not have it to my level of success, but it’s still an enjoyable thriller of a movie. Saying it’s unwatchable makes your opinion null and void.

Semi-spoiler...

Oscar Isaac’s character went from greed thirsty to donating all his money at end. His character development was great. And he was kind of the lead guy anyways. Character development my arse.

I took it as things had changed a lot for him. Not really the same guy he was when they were all in the military together.

agreed, this is a huge plot hole. And for Jax to be the only one to consider getting their coordinates, for 100+M, was pretty bad writing.

One 30 second scene at the end of the movie doesnt validate character development.

I agree with whoever said it earlier. This movie was trash.

THANK YOU. This movie was badass. Everybody in that other thread is way to caught up in the “this is what a special forces soldier would/wouldn’t do blah blah” bullshite and critiquing their decisions way to hard. You can find a logical reason for just about everything they did or didn’t do, people just like to bitch

yea but he was reluctant to even come on the mission. Then he came only for recon. If he was really in a bind he would have jumped at the idea of quick money.

Ok.

Tellers brother? What the frick was the stupid arse fight scene?

Did this group serve or fight together? What was their connection prior?

The pilot? Why grounded? How long? What made home the best pilot ever? And if so how did he get them in such a oerilous situation.

The Mexican? Where did he fit in in the rank? A brief mention of all the beautiful women but nothing about relationships or his current closeness with the Mexican chick.

Affleck, conflicted relationship with the kids Mom. Nothing more. The kid? Nothing more.

This movie just bounced around. They introduced about 14 subplots with not one being developed.

You kept waiting in something but got nothing. No action, no love, no story. Even his death was haphazard as hell

This was not a very good movie, most folks that watch movies would agree. It probably cost a lot of $$$ but it is what it is. I'm thinkin if I had the budget Netflix has I could pick better projects. They are willing to pay A and B list stars....they could get better scripts.

i'm in this camp.

***** SPOILER *****

i enjoyed it but the hemorrhaging of cash as they went just kind of knocked the air out of the plot. i understood it, but the frustration of Ben Affleck's character showing his greed as the plot went on just sucked the life out of it for me.

it was almost "A Simple Plan" like in that with each bad decision you start to like the protagonists a bit less.

He’s obviously an amateur MMA fighter trying to make ends meet but sucks, they pretty much say that in the locker room

quote:

They all obviously served together and are really close friends. I mean they all went to the MMA guys fight for support

quote:

The pilot? Why grounded? How long? What made home the best pilot ever? And if so how did he get them in such a oerilous situation
.

Did you miss the part where he said he got busted hauling coke? Nobody said he’s the best pilot ever but these guys served with him and they obviously trust him. There was 250 million frickin dollars on board so he took a chance and it didn’t work out, I mean not everything can go perfectly that would be a boring movie

quote:

The Mexican? Where did he fit in in the rank? A brief mention of all the beautiful women but nothing about relationships or his current closeness with the Mexican chick.

Obviaouly Upper echelon of the cartel if he’s sitting in the middle of the jungle with all that money. Her brother worked for him that’s how she got in with him, did we really need a whole side plot of their relationship?

quote:

Affleck, conflicted relationship with the kids Mom. Nothing more. The kid? Nothing more.

It seems pretty clear that they got a divorce because of him having a hard time adapting to civilian life and making ends meet, he even said he sucks at real estate and only feels good with a gun in his hand.

And no action? What movie did you watch? The whole heist scene was awesome my heart was racing when they were loading the money. The chopper crash was tense as hell, so was the stand down with the farmers, the shoot out on the cliffs, then the sprint to the beach at the end. It was obvious they were never going to have this massive shootout and pile up bodies, they didn’t want to kill unless they had to

All the people that hate this movie hate it because not everything was spelled out for them. It didn’t waste its time with boring side plots and go into every characters specific background, it stuck to the meat of the story (hey look these guys served together, they’re badass, and they’re going to rob a cartel leader) and it was awesome.
