You really have to push through the first couple of seasons until it's no longer the "freak of the week" every episode.

Call me crazy but I really enjoyed those aspects of the series. Just instantly turn my brain off and chill type of show

I was wondering about that. Yeah the whole “problem arises, manifests and is defeated every episode” thing makes it seem kind of cheesy.

it makes you wonder if Clark and Jonathan treatment isn't at least partially responsible for who Lex becomes

I posted a thread a while back positing that Jonathan Kent was the villain of the show and the person most responsible for Lex going bad.

Some of the episodes are really good while others are just not that interesting. Once Clark figures things out and they get into more in depth story lines the characters and the show really takes off IMO.

It starts like this, a definite formula they were comfortable with. Then it started getting serialized a bit in season 2 (season 1 is ALL monster of the week) then slowly gets more and more seriaized

2-3 are when it picks up and by season 5 it shifts 100% into Clark Kent/Luther/Superman/Etc

I'd say 1-4 is the show finding itself. Season 5 is when the comic stuff takes over.

Interestingly enough Fringe basically follows the same path

I'm having a hard time finishing the series. After Lex is gone it's much less interesting. I get the freak of the week stuff sometimes got repetitive but it's also when Lana was in her prime and the most nostalgic part of the series.

I loved the freak the weak episodes. The show kind of felt like the X-files the way it built the story arc.

Lololololololol

Chloe would have been down for anything (as would Mack, it turns out). She wanted some Clark in the worst way.

Rosenbaum has a podcast that is pretty good if you need some content, it's called "inside of you." lol, no, really.

Lana was smoke. Lois was FIRE though. He chose wisely. The bikini scene with Lois is perfection. Lana is prettier though.

Should have tapped Chloe. She’d have been up for butt stuff.

Rosenbaum as Lex was the best. Favorite line was when he admitted he was the Villan of the story.

The talent at Smallville was no fricking joke. Blows the CW line up out of the water.

Durrance did an interview on Rosenbaum's podcast a while back. From a hard-core Christian upbringing (Canadian). Background in singing.

Before she joined the cast in Season 4, she had been one of the casting directors for Smallville.
