Of detective mills in "seven".

Fascinating.

I'm trying to imagine both in the final scene. Who would've done it better? I personally never liked brad pitt in that role.

Denzel would have done a great job.

I dont Stallone could have pulled it off then. I think he is a better actor now.

Idk, not a huge Pitt fan, but it would really change the way I see that dynamic if the actor was much older. Denzel is ten years older than Pitt, Stallone much older.

I think Denzel would have been better. Read he also turned down the role in Micheal Clayton, Denzel or Clooney is probably a better debate.

Fine.

But in your defense of brad pitt, who i think did a shitty acting job and almost ruined the movie. He did lobby hard to keep the head in a box. The studio didn't like it and wanted to get rid of it. I doubt washington or stallone would've fought that.

Pitt was perfect for the role, the cocky know-it-all with the over-it grizzled veteran. Pitt nailed it.

Morgan Freeman was great but I feel Denzel would've been incredible.

Would Morgan Freeman had gotten the other role if Denzel accepted?

Studio wouldn't have gone Freeman/Denzel back then. They want contrasts for everything young/old black/white.

Pitt was good in seven. Denzel would have been good in that role too.

Stallone, I have a much tougher time seeing him carry it off. He was old enough that dynamic with him and Freeman would have been off and I don't think he was a good enough actor to have hit scenes like the ending.

I don't think it was bad but it's not the legendary classic people want to make it out to be.

From an acting stand point, brad pitt was just outclassed all the way around. Freeman, spacey, even that old marine did a better job than him.

It could've been a script issue though. The mills character just seemed so dumb and somewhat obtuse compared to Somerset. Mills had zero answers and when Somerset had ideas, theories or whatever else, mills would just piss on them. I mean the character didn't have to be on the same intellectual level as somerset but he didn't have to be a tard either.

I think a better or more experienced actor (at the time) wouldn't have allowed the character to be so fricking dumb and narrow minded as pitt allowed.

I dunno, stallone has nailed some really good scenes over the years and i think he was experienced enough, in ways pitt wasn't to nail this role. But i agree on the age thing.

Pitt did nail the final scene though. It was his only meaningful contribution to the movie.
