wrong, you obviously know nothing about the writing of the book, the author or any of the author's previous works. The book is a macro look at the evolution of the left tackle position. Incidentally, the author's high school friend adopted a kid who seemingly was born to play that position.

So the first 60 pages of a 300+ book is what it's about and the rest is just some side story? The part about the LT position and Walsh's offenses were interesting but the book was about Michael Oher.

If Oher had been a potential band member or cheerleader, would that family have still adopted him?

They adopted him when he was nothing more than a potential back-up power forward for small D-1 program like Murray State.

And SFP, I browsed through KC Joyner's book and was thoroughly unimpressed with Blindsided.

But you have to admit that something seems fishy.:

Tuhay(sp?) were boosters for Ole Miss and all, but the biggest thing to me is that his high school coach got a job at Ole Miss 20 days after he Ohr signed with them.

Something about the situation seems sleezy to me. I agree that money is not the motivation, but it just seems like there was some alterior motive. Maybe they are just attention whores, everyone in their community was giving them attention for taking him in and The book was written by Mr. Tuhoy's friend. but like someone said earlier, even if there was an alterior motive, it worked out the best for Ohr....and I am happy about that.

Also, having mike there did not help ole miss any. At all, if he was a key component to ensure them a Nat Champ then by all means I can see why they would, but because he went to ole miss he was able to stand out more.

Sometime, people just do nice thing. Also while the LT position is important, had they groom a QB, RB, or WR then it might have seem fishy. O-line is not as glorified as the other position. They saw potential in him and he achieved it, now he is set for life. Provided he is smart with money.

They mention the recruiting issues and the seemingly "fishiness" of things in the book.

I saw the movie, but didn't read the book, but here' my thoughts:

I believe the family took him in before he started playing football. Therefore, they didn't know that he would turn into a 1st rd draft pick. My friend read the book and said that the book did not speak well of his high school coach. The book said that Tennessee offered him a job (the movie hinted at it) and that he did end up at Ole Miss. Michael Oher was not too fond of him.
