The Chinese have banned effeminate men and “sissy’s” from their media platforms (their words).

How will this impact the entertainment industry?

China is essentially who movies are being made for right now.

That could be a huge financial impact.

Take the Choose Your Own Adventure tech Netflix has been working on with Bandersnatch. Take the same movie, make several different versions aimed at different audiences. The movies cost a bit more to make but they play to more audiences so you make more money in the end.

The same way Hollywood hypocritically caters to their racism.. They'll just make a change for the Chinese market, like shrinking a black guy on a poster, and pretend it doesn't exist before preaching woke shite to the West.

This will prevent any major gayness of super heroes, though. Those bloated tent poles will not be able to survive if they can't rely on the Chinese market. They might have a character say he's gay or show a 3 second shot of him kissing a dude or something, but it will have to be something that can be seamlessly edited out for the foreign markets.

There hasnt been a Chinese villain since 7 Years in Tibet.

And honestly, i will gladly trade no Chi-Com bad guy for films that actually depict masculine men and traditional hero types.

I just can't wait for Hollywood to bend the fricking knee to something they are supposedly so against as "toxic" and "troublesome" all because the Commies told them to.

Amazingly, China, as crazy as it sounds and as much damage as they've done to the US producing quality films, may actually somewhat save the industry from going off the cliff with trannies and gays, etc.

I do, though. Wonder if they do go down the route of making 2 versions of the film (one over woke bullshited and one traditional and tamed down) or if they actuay try to separate from the Chinese market altogether, which has actually been hinted at in recent months because they aren't seeing the return on investment like they thought with China taking 70+% of their profits.

I don't understand how Hollyood doenst understand that big budget, well directed testosterone-fueled badass action flick will be a gigantic international hit. I don't know how many people in America know it but much of the world is still, at least culturally, in the 1990s.

The biggest show in many smaller euro countries Friends. Russia and the eastern block still just Want roofed out hyper-masculine heroes who radiate scene presence and transcend language barriers with just a look.

It's why Arnold and Sly, not exactly the most loquacious actors of their generation were such huge global stars.

Chinese audiences, and everyone else in the world except 2% of hyper-vocal Twitter users who hate themselves, still want to see traditional blockbusters without stnut castings like black female James Bonds and 110lb Charlize Theron throwing around and beating up 260lb grown men.

Oh thank goodness.

Who would have thought we'd need the Chinese to force Hollyweird to make movies that show men as they actually are?

It'll be interesting to see what Hollywood does with this. But i can't see them going this route. They need those Chinese Yuan to line their pockets and making 2 films would drastically cut into their take. So the question will be what do they consider more important their wokness or their greed.

If China basically stops accepting any Hollywood films with female action leads from being shown in their country, then they'll do what they always do, and take the money.

I think it’s TV specifically. It’s in their own interest that we keep feminizing men in our movies and save for the DVD black market (which is very popular over there) they don’t purchase our television shows.

I guarantee they are panicking right now on shows like Lord of the Rings and other giant IPs they plan to cater to and release in China. You know that show, like every show now, will have the female as the "hero" and the male leads portrayed as incapable morons who just walk around following behind her., no matter what the source material says.

Yeah, these big fantasy budget shows they’re likely panicking over now. Those I think they were planning to make a deal with CCTV, but that’s fricked now.

Random thoughts about China's stance on this:

No male fairy godmothers!

I know the anti-Christ is supposed to come from the West, but this is the kind of move to start a cultural move, that lots of Christians in America would prefer.

Maybe we were too hard on LeBron.

If the filmmakers make two versions, they should offer Americans the choice to choose which movie they want to watch.
That's the old fashion American way, that a majority is still favoring.

China doesn’t care if Western men are shown as weak and effeminate, hell they encourage that. They just don’t want Chinese males shown as weak nor do they want anything that counteracts the CCl message. That’s a huge reason why Episodes 1-6 aren’t popular over there because it counteracts everything they’ve ever been told.

Yeah, there’s a reason why China doesn’t get or like Star Wars: because they’re the Empire and look at people that have Luke and Leia’s appearance as weak. I got into arguments with them about it and the Chinese truly don’t understand the appeal of Star Wars while they like stuff like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.
