Watching it right now.
I never think to mention it on my “stop and watch whenever I come across it” list with Road House and Shawshank, but it’s a stop and watch for sure.

One of my favorite of that genre-----the mountain man carving out a hard-scrabble living in the wild hunting, trapping and living off the land.
Someone mentioned "Little Big Man" and I found it to be a pretty good movie even though Dustin Hoffman is not one of my favorite actors. His nasally voice tends to grate on me after a while.

I too think it is under-rated and somewhat forgotten by the average movie viewer. I will watch it every time it is on. My favorite part is his conflict with the Indians and the respect that is earned between them at the end.
