Realistically, if Lt. Dan invested Bubba Gump shrimp profits into Apple(Macintosh)?

Figured money talk, but movie board can figure this one out.

I think he'd be a billionaire because Gump would continue to live life rather simply.

Plus all the ping pong royalties ..... Any way he played in the NFL so he'd be rolling in the dough

Alabama paid as well as the NFL in those days, so he might as well have.

Lemme guess. In the book, or a sequel, FG joined the NFL. What do I win?

Normally, I'd say he was broke, ripped off by a series of junkie sluts, but he's got Lt. Dan and others to keep the wolves away. Plus, over the years, people in his community might forget that he's rich at all. He'd just be "that retard who cuts the grass."

He'd be ridiculously wealthy and in their old age, he and Lt. Dan would probably be the heads of some huge Vietnam veterans charity organization.

Better question. Does Forrest remarry?

I read a few years back that if you invested in Apple the year the movie came out, you would have a solid portfolio right now.

I want to bitch smack my econ teacher for saying investment in google would be silly.. I got in at $325, I could have got in at $115 then.

All this talk and no concrete #s. I'm figuring each boat pulled in around 2 mil a year....so operating cost was probably around 1.2 mill.

He had 12 Jenny's......800,000 profit a year.

Around 9 mill in profit.....uncle Sam taking 39%

He had no bills inherited house, didn't ever have cable or Internet, ran almost everywhere.

I'm guessing he is Bama s biggest booster.

I didn't even take into account ping pong endorsements, veteran benefits, and apple splitting under his watch.

Lets not forget he may have sold some shares when apple almost fell apart taking huge losses.

Nothing from Apple stock - quoting from Wikipedia "Forrest spent (the profits) on renovating the church he frequents, establishing a medical center at Bubba's hometown and gave Bubba's family his share of the investment money that is enough for them to never work again."
