It's for sure the worst of the Harry Potter movies. It's just ridiculous, especially given since I think HBP is the best of the novels.

I mean, the scene where Bellatrix and the Death Eaters go to the Burrow... why wouldn't Voldemort himself go and kill Harry if they could find him? It's really as if the Death Eaters got shitfaced during Christmas, and then decided to drunkenly frick with Harry and the Weasleys.

And then the love story was awful, especially since it would mean nothing in the following film. What did matter though was Voldemort's backstory. They just showed the orphanage and the Slughorn memories. Why not show the rest of them? To make way for the shitty love story and the Death Eaters driving back roads drunk on Christmas? Ron and Hermione should have been sidelined for the movie with the film being centrally focused on Harry, Dumbledore, Snape, and Draco.

They fricked it up so much that they were forced to leave out the best scene in the film because it ridiculously clashed with the shitty tone that they set up: LINK

That should have been the tone of the entire film. David Yates is really not that good of a film maker, and if they possibly could, should have brought Alfonso Cuaron back on to direct, HBP in particularly. He would have done it perfectly. Instead at the end we just have Snape telling Harry half assly that he's the Half Blood Prince and they light their wands. Yeah, great stuff there instead of Snape and Harry going after it yelling at each other over the roaring flames with Harry being utterly devistated on what happened.

All the movies starting with PoA started changing from the books. That is when Rowling sold out.

I liked Order of the Phoenix less but it's a close second to least favorite.

Scratch that. DH 1 was least favorite. Forgot how boring it was from start to finish. Tough source material though.

Well, honestly I find DH1 my second favorite of the films and OotP my third.

DH1 was miserable. Maybe one of least favorite movie in a series ever.

The book of DH was so end-loaded though, so it's a bit unfair.

I like DH1 for its slowness, misery, and taking the material seriously. My thoughts as I was watching it was "perfect, this is what HBP should have been, a thoroughly miserable experience of hopelessness." I can definitely see why this would be incredibly offputting to others though.

I think that's fair. It nailed hopelessness.

I'm weird. I like depressing TV and hate depressing movies. Even though I know what was coming from the books I was unsettled.

The last three movies were complete abortions. They completely fricked them up

Even though they slaughtered one of my favorite books, I still enjoy it.

I don't really know why either

Someone must have been watching Jeremy Jahn's Half-Blood Prince review. But I agree. The movie got so much shite wrong and completely missed the point of the novel. Why they sacrificed that epic Hogwarts fight in the books for a random and pointless encounter at the Weasley's during Christmas, I'll never know.

Did yall get that crazy lightening last night over there? It was amazing in shreveport. No rain at the time but the horizon was being lit up with horizontal strikes in the clouds. I had to go outside and watch for a while.

The fact that they left out Snape screaming "DON'T. CALL. ME. COWARD!" at Harry as he and the Death Eaters escaped Hogwarts is the biggest f up of the entire series. It really is sad how much they messed up HBP, because it's the best of the novels and Rowling's finest writing of the entire series IMO.

I can't believe you have more downvotes than up right now. HBP is the worst of the movies by far.

Looks like someone else spent their rainy Saturday watching Freeform's "There was some kind of arbitrary holiday this past week so we're celebrating with a Harry Potter marathon all weekend." too.

I swear they just had a HP marathon two weeks ago.
