I'm sorry, but I disagree. In my humble opinion, 90% of Amazing Spider-man 1 and 2 is trash. Sony trying to save their corner of the SH genre. People that say, "oh gee, pumpkin head is so much more like Peter Parker in the books, obviously do not collect comic books and are going off of the Disney Cartoons! I'll say it, the first and second Spider-man with Toby Macguire was 10000 times better than the "Amazing" series.

Oh yea, Parker wore a man purse and skate boarded all across Manhatten. Disney DX cartoon is calling.

ETA: it's probably not the best time to post when you've been drinking whiskey. Excelsior!!!!!!!

Damn it..... I got so upset I forget to put end quotes!

Well good for him. But for real, how can a person say " oh Amazing Spider-Man is better than the Toby Spidey!", when ASM has a Skateboard scene that looks like they ripped from the warehouse dance scene from Footloose! Watch the 2 scenes and compare! Ughhh.

Just one more cocktail.

ETA: do you ever sleep dude?

Not at night. I'm a big night owl and I usually work in the afternoon and evenings.

Ahhh. Night owl also. But I work 8ish to 5ish. Luckily I have my own office, so I can somewhat dictate my hours.

Just noticed you post 24/7. Which is a good thing!

He sucked arse. I actually liked him in Chronicle because he was supposed to be a whiny little creep. I didn't realize how bad an actor he was though.

Well that's not a stretch...Spiderman 2 (2004) is one of the best comic book movies of all time.

I haven't seen the second one yet, but the first one was fairly bad.

The original Spider Man movies are unwatchable to me now. Andrew Garfield's SM and Emma Watson's Gwen Stacy are so good, I'm willing to forgive some of the flaws. Tobey Maguire was a horrible Peter Parker/Spider Man.

I had no problem with Harry Osborn in TASM2 but I thought he went overboard and overacted once he became Green Goblin. I did like the idea of him being fragile and dependent on the suit and glider.

No, that was Emo Spidey. Both are equally annoying.

Andrew and Emma are the ultimate hipster couple.

I'm surprised by the negative reactions in this thread. I've seen some threads about TAS that everyone just jerked off to how good it was and how the kid from The Social Network was a perfect spiderman

He was one of the things I disliked the most about it. I hated AG in that role.

And that's coming from someone who's literally never seen a Spiderman comic book...so I don't know if he's "just like the comics" or whatever, but as a non-comic-reader, I borderline couldn't stand him. The whole "Oooo, I'm so scared..." scene with the bad guy and his whole "I'm trying to be a snarky smartass" schtick completely missed for me. It almost felt like they were trying to make him a cocky Spiderman a la Tony Stark/Ironman.

He was pretty accurate to the character from the comic. A lot closer than Tobey.

Spiderman is a character from the 1960's, that culture at the time reflected the character.

The movies are just sort of a novelty, studios know people will pay to see them so they throw people in there that will appeal to audiences of today. Jamie Foxx may have been good in ray, but he had no business as electro.

I remember people saying that after it came out. I'm saying that regardless of how close to the comics he was, it completely turned me off in the movie.

Tobey Maguire's spiderman may have been campy or overacted or whatever, but I honestly think that's largely due to poor writing.

Granted, I was pretty young when they came out so there's some nostalgia there which makes me biased.

Also, the villians in TASM seem pretty lame. Lizard was just fake looking, electro was goofy, and osborne/goblin was bad too. Did anyone besides me acutally like Defoe's Green Goblin from SM1?

Seems like all the villians in the spiderman movies are weak.. Defoe was creepy because defoe is creepy looking in general.
