They were much better before they just made it the "What is bothering Olivia this week?" continuous plot line.

When L&O started, it really was a game changer. Before that the police procedurals always featured establishing shots, shots of cops leisurely driving around... Wolf came up with the concept of bam, bam, bam... someone tells the cops they saw so and so at the scene - cut to so and so being questioned, he says he heard about it from his buddy - cut to the cops talking to the buddy... combine that with a twist each week and you have an enjoyable watch. They'd pack a lot into each hour.

It’s a shell of the show it once was 20+ years ago.

As far as Dick Wolf police procedurals I prefer Chicago PD
Chicago PD is absolutely the best of the shows. Really hated it when they wrote Olinsky out of the show. His character was so dark you could believe he bent the rules as needed to get the bad guys.

Agreed, it’s the only network TV show I watch religiously. They’re also the only cop show that didn’t go off the rails with leftist political stuff. They covered some of the real world current events but always did a good job of playing both sides.

Same. They’ve kept the newer episodes interesting but the first 6 seasons were the best. Maybe they’re just nostalgic at this point to me.

Jesse L. Martin left L&O in Season 18, Jeremy Sisto left in Season 20 of L&O (after 20 seasons the wheels start to come off).
Quoted for truth.
Damn shame what they did to Jeffrey Donovan.
