I have never watched an episode of Game Of Thrones and I am thinking of beginning a foray into the series. I know it is popular but that means little in today's society in terms of quality. Is it a good story that is well executed, worth its reputation, or is it just a fad for those that are easily entertained?

TIA and yes, I know that I can watch it and determine for myself. I am just interested in this board's opinion as I have found it to be a worthy one.

Its pretty good.

I was sorta turned off by the books (not the normal case)

The Wire is the best show I have ever watched but Game of Thrones is my favorite and may surpass The Wire when it is all said and done. Its one of the few things in TV or Film where I trust do not know what is going to happen next.

Very. This kind of series is definitely not the kind of thing I'm into, and I got into it by force.

I met my ex-girlfriend while S3 was airing. By the second or third day we were hanging out, she made me watch S1E1 and I was intrigued enough to watch the next. By the time S3 was through airing, I was already up-to-date on the show and halfway through with the first book, and had completed the books within six months.

It was that simple for me.

If you decide to watch, watch them all before researching any spoilers. It makes the show so much better.

I enjoy it. I started watching the show before I got into the books (and just kind of went off the deep end from there). I have friends that are strictly show watchers and enjoy it as well. Don't let the book readers vs. show-watchers thing turn you away from the show itself.

The people I know who don't watch are usually completely turned off by anything medieval or magic/dragons/fantasy genre/etc. Personally, I think it's woven into a "realistic" medieval storyline fairly well. The books the show is based off of was written with some English history influence.

Just stay the hell away from Google searching anything about the show if you're in the middle of getting caught up. And watch out for some of the threads here.

Do you like the genre? If so I imagine you'll love it.

I don't care at all for the genre, so I only made it halfway. Not an indictment on the show at all, just not my cup of tea.

If put right up there with any of the greats. If the last 2 seasons maintain the momentum and the payoff at the end is as epic as expected, it'll easily be tGOAT

It's the only show I have any interest with dragons and that kind of stuff. The tits help too.

Get ready for 35 characters and 12 story lines to be thrown at you in 55 minutes.

I watched a little over 2 seasons and didn't care for it. I found the characters and stories are thrown at you quickly and then it jumps to the next location. And then a sex scene is randomly thrown in here and there for entertainment.

Sorry you can't keep up with a beautifully intertwined story. Walking dead might be more your speed since they just rehash the same plot line every season

That's not it. It's the fact that right when you're getting interested in something, then the rotation starts over and you wait a long arse time before seeing that setting again. You GoT homers sure get pissy when someone doesn't agree with you. Yall must be liberals.

Season 1 was legit. After that, negative.

Give me Sopranos, Wire, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under any day over GoT.
