Say you have to predict the ending to a movie with more than 45 minutes left and a TV show with 10 minutes left for a half hour show and 20 minutes for an hour long show. I've recently found that I almost always seem to figure out the ending to stuff before it happened. My gf didn't believe me so I started doing it out loud and I'm right almost every time. Of course most of the stuff I am predicting are sitcoms that are easy as shite to see how the episode will end. We watch Parenthood together and I annoy her by telling her whats about to happen
Anyway I've noticed I'm getting better and better at it and I can usually predict most movies. Anyone else great at this?

Yes I am bragging and this is an exceptionally cool story, it's been brought to you by

Most movies/tv shows/books tend to follow a formula. Also, particular writers have tendencies that can be figured out after multiple books/shows/movies. I'm pretty good at figuring out movies at about the halfway point. I usually keep it to myself though because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone else.

Oftentimes I do tend to like movies that trick me into guessing the wrong ending more. I do not know if it is right or wrong, but they seem to be more realistic or have more texture to me.

I am TERRIBLE at this. Seriously.

TV is a lot easier in general because its usually a rip off of a movie. But with movies, I very rarely see the ending coming. There was one part of The Impossible I saw coming, other than a friggin tsunami hitting, that I kind of surprised myself, but that is one of the only ones I can think of lately.

With Looper, *No spoilers*, me and my buddy are watching and 10 minutes before the final scene my buddy says whats about to happen, and sure enough it does. Im sitting there like WTF, didnt see that coming.

And Shutter Island, I swear everybody on this site claims they had that pegged from the very start or midway through. One twist at the end might have been guessable, but the final twist was impossible im sorry. You would have had to guess two things.

But yeah, I suck at this. It doesnt bother me at all though.

I can agree with this most of the time, except when I feel like a movie has gone out of the way to be confusing and trick you instead of make a really surprising/shocking ending.

I feel like Inception did a great job having a crazy confusing ending but not sacrificing quality, I had no idea wtf was going on

I predicted Looper as soon as the kid brought him into that tunnel thing.

i've got about a 99.9% success rate of ruining movies for my wife. The only exception was Sixth Sense. It got me good.

About 25 minutes in I said, "he's one of the dead people." Whole family, who had seen the movie already, subsequently dropped their jaws to the floor. This alone gets me in the movie ending guessing hall of fame IMO.

I never try to predict the end of a movie. If it's a good movie I usually get caught up in it and never really think about what't about to happen next.

When we used to watch CSI all the time, I could pretty much predict who the killer was within the first 20 minutes. Not because I was super brilliant, but they had become so formulaic with introducing the killer.

House was like that.

Every episode there is somebody that gets sick in the intro. And without fail the person who has the heart attach/seizure/spits up blood is the one you're not supposed to think is going to have a problem. Omg it's the person pushing the one in the wheelchair not the person in the wheelchair omg!

I think it's fairly obnoxious to sit around and try and guess the ending, but sometimes it's the only way to get through something particularly formulaic. Just wait for the story beats.

That said, while I don't try and predict the end, sometimes I'll be watching something and understanding will wash over me of where they are driving towards. It's like, "Oh! I get it!" But if the art requires you to be surprised by the end, it's probably not very good. The plot twists which really work are organic and aren't really required. the Sixth Sense is still good without the twist. Which is why it is good. His other stuff depends on the twist, which sucks.

I thought Shutter Island was the most predictable ending of all the "twist" movies. You didn't have any idea after all of his dreams and hallucinations?

Decent. I nailed the ending to 6th sense, which at the time wasn't too shabby. Now it's an expected endimg.

I recently watched "the Usual Suspects" knowing the ending (still love the movie) but it seemed kind of obvious who Soze during the movie but that could just be hindsight thinking

i read the book so I knew what was going to happen, but the book got me good.

I am excellent at predicting the ending of movies and tv shows. I usually keep them to myself, as my father would do it when i was growing up and it pissed me off to no end. even if you know the destination, the media is good enough, the journey should still be enjoyable.

and looper was crazy predictable. if you couldn't figure out what happened, you are a fricking idiot.

*shutter island spoilers*

That wasn't the real twist to me. To me the true shocker was that the even though the test worked, he couldn't live with the fact that he somehow played a part in what his wife did. The study worked, but he openly decided to have a labotomy. That was why I walked away thinking "wow, that was crazy."

I give myself about an 8.5/10. Like somebody else said, I like to keep it to myself also. Douche move to ruin for others.
