Yep. I’ve toured the set. He films like every 3 months and only for a week at a time

Greatest gig ever

I think the contestants to bring 3 changes of clothes in case they stick around for later tapings that day.

Sometimes when a contestant has a good long run, you can tell they're down to the bottom of the suitcase.

It’s kind of crazy how short Jeopardy's offseason is. Most game shows like Wheel of Fortune end their seasons in like the first or second week of June. Jeopardy runs new episodes til the very end of July, take one month off, then are back at it in the second week of September.

They film 5 episodes a day for two days straight, then the same studio's opposite side is used for Wheel of Fortune, which does the same exact thing - 10 episodes in 2 days. Share a lot of the same crew so that the crew has a 4 day job.

Fun fact - they film it in real time, with the commercial break exactly factored in. Alex talks to the audience during the breaks.

You and PowerTool are spot on.

I was a contestant on Jeopardy! for the VERY LAST game of the season in 2012-13. We taped on a Tuesday, April 26. Game wasn't aired until Friday July 23rd.

They did tell us to bring extra clothes, which was good. 1st, my seersucker striped jacket did NOT work on TV. Had to switch to my blue blazer. 2nd, my Tabasco tie was considered 'advertising'; had to switch to a Monet print one.

A good friend flew out from DC to watch the taping; he got the first question in to Trebek that day during commercials (what is your favorite hockey team?).

I sat through the 1st 4 tapings; we had a lunch break after the 1st three and they treated the remaining players to lunch at the Sony Studios commissary.

And no, I did not win, but I did lose to a 6-time winner who made it to the Tournament of Champions and at the time was 9th highest on the money list.

I always wondered about how they film.

Accidentally down voted you. Sorry

Naw, it's just that stripes make a weird effect, which is why you rarely see news/sportscasters wear bold stripes on TV.

I wore the seersucker at the audition/interview, and I think it actually helped get me on the show. The contestant coordinator noticed it and complimented me on it.

I'm extremely envious. I've tried out for about the last 8 years, but I haven't made it to the interview portion. The most questions I've got on the test was 37/50. It's just so damn heavy on literature and the other arts, and I hate that stuff. Any test advice would be appreciated.

It's called the moiré effect in case you ever get back on the show, and that one is on the board.

I was joking about bias. I remember when Trent Lott got other senators to go along with Seersucker day in Washington it was the only time I'd see people wearing it on live television.
