GOT didn't always have a two year break between seasons.

That’s my point. I dont get why HOTD has to

Season 1 did so much to win the fandom back over after the GoT S8 disaster… I feel they needed to nail this season to be fully all the way back and they totally bottled it.
Now we gotta wait two years to put this disappointment in the rear view….at least we get the hedge knight next year as a distraction

And what’s unfortunate is the handful of good bits you had in this season were really good (Rooks Rest, The Dragonseed selection).
It just had soooo much filler. It feels like they fricked up trying to figure out how to manage Daemon’s time in Harrenhal (since we don’t get that written in the book) and trying to get Aegon back to a point of functioning.
The worst part is I stand by that episode would’ve been an awesome penultimate episode.

Season 1 was frickin months to years leaps of time.
Season 2 feels like we’ve moved forward a week
So slow I couldn’t even remember why the black chick was running through the hills

I'm glad you brought that up. Can someone answer why the Lady of the Vail casted out the black girl on her own?

God in heaven…WHY can’t these people get it right? Good material to work with, unlimited resources, an audience just looking for a shred of an excuse to redeem GoT a little—and they screw up like this. One episode more would have made all the difference. How do they not see?
Im starting to feel like Im in an abusive relationship with this franchise!

Why does it seem like these series can't land a final episode? The final 10-15min would have been great if there was another episode. Now it's a 2yr wait.

Apparently they don’t have unlimited resources.

I tend to agree with some others that seem to think they started writing for a 10 episode season and the Time Warner/Discovery folks cut the budget and forced an 8 episode season.
They’ve been laying off people left and right and cutting shows. They’re going to Rome this shite, I bet.

You saw who wrote it so there will be no big exciting dragon war to start next season. The two badass chicks will reach an accord, more machinations for 8 episodes leading to failure.

But to leave every single plot line on a cliffhanger, basically, and then end the season? I mean come on.
the end felt almost like a "last season on hotd" recap/montage for the start of next season.

Man what in the actual frick of a season finale was that

This entire season could have been 3 episodes.
No it couldn’t have.
The pacing was a bit weird at times, but some of y’all are being pretty dramatic about how slow it was. The issue wasn’t so much how long it took, as much as where they chose to spend time along the way. It would have made more sense to add two more episodes at the end than to condense the episodes that we saw, IMO.

There has to be some explanation for why they wouldn’t conclude any of the ongoing plot threads.
This seems to be a feature of HBO and the game of thrones clusterfrick of a program.
You know, I felt a little guilty about cheating and reading spoilers. frick that now. I just want to know the end and therefore i don’t have to care about this inevitable let down and HBO’s girl power fetish.

Watching the “making of” surely makes them seem quite flush!

Get rid of the female writers and bring back last year's showrunner

That is how it appears. How short-sighted by TW/D to shoot the series in the foot so badly.

We lost Princess Rhaenys and Meleys now we’re just stuck with The Sea Snake of Sorrow and his fat boy bastard who alleges he went hungry as a child. Gods be cruel.
