Can only imagine the humdinger ole scabby got that night from the Queen
To be fair, Sir Kisses did technically threaten the princess/heir to the throne. And I bet Corlys is happy now that his son's sidepiece is gone.
The one thing that confused me this episode was there was only 1 ship carrying not only the king but his official heir early in the episode. Maybe Rhaenyra's dragon was flying above though and we didn't see it.

Ok, I am watching the show and really enjoying it. My wife and I are also watching GOT as we go as she has never seen it and I am getting to watch again. Something popped up in Season 3 that spoiled the freaking ending of HOtD. I guess maybe some knew about this but I just never remembered it as it was just a couple of lines from Joffrey. Sucks.
Maybe you'll forget about it by the time it happens on the show.

There’s several comments from characters throughout the show and the ASOIAF books outside this one that reference this period in passing.

His gay Targ black guy hair is absurd
Yeah, I think Corlys’ white dreads look badass. His children’s wigs, however, have looked awful. Especially the young version of his daughter. The older version it’s not so bad.
Good show though

Also, the BIG spoiler everyone is talking about that showed up on GOT is in Season 3, Episode 4 where Joffrey is giving Margaery Tyrell a tour of the Red Keep and gives her an oral history of what happens to some House of the Dragon characters.
If you haven’t seen it yet and are doing a rewatch, you want to avoid that one specifically.
Also, leave it to Joffrey Baratheon to be a spoilery bitch.

Once Alicient accepts that as fact in her heart, that means she truly has to be worried about future bloodshed of herself and her children in a situation where Rhaenyra takes the throne and the people do not accept it.
This. Her father laid it out to her explicitly before you left - pray that Rhaenyra is extremely merciful (doesn’t seem the type) - or start opposing her now because her ascension naturally threatens the her well being the well being of her son. I think her father’s words, combined with his expulsion and Cole’s admission, father woke her to the dangers around her and made her realize what she must do for her and her son to survive.

it was like 2 minutes of some dudes on the beach with a little weird wrestling that helped to hammer home a major plot point later on. As far as gay/woke/love scenes go it was useful and tame af. Discussion about a great episode being derailed by this is lame.

Viserys gets dunked on a lot for being weak, but he's a good king. I mean he's kept the peace and it's not going to be until he dies or can't rule anymore when things fall apart. There's something to be said for that.

I believe him to be a good man, but he even questions his own strength to the hand. He knows he’s dying and and questions if he had been tested would he have been a stronger man. He’s let Daemon run over him several times and his own daughter to a lesser extent

So, are the Velaryons born with grey hair?

they’re about to replace the (Rhaenyra) actress with a girl who looks like the witch on Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
Milly Alcock is a bit odd looking, but still attractive in an unusual sort of way. They are replacing her with the beast on the far left. Uugghh

quote:The whole “it’s so ‘woke’ whine” is just annoying. It is like whining about Denzel in Shakespeare. But Corlys’ coloration does raise an interesting genetic question.
He's already mixed and very light skinned. His kids would be even more light skinned. Shouldn't be hard to pull off. Now if he looked like his daddy, then that's a different storyquote:
Yep, all the bitching about black corlys looks even more pointless now. When will people learn to quit bitching about a tv show before it even comes out?
It has been hundreds of years since the Targ invasion. During most of that time, Valyrians in Westeros have intermarried MOSTLY with other Valyrians, per the books. Let’s say that there WERE a handful of dark-skinned Valyrians (who are just not mentioned in the books). Over many generations of interbreeding with the more-common pale, blonde Valyrians, would there be any dark-skinned Valyrians LEFT in Westeros? I would think that the darkest Valyrians would be cafe-au-lait by this generation. How the Hell is Corlys still so dark?

You gotta wonder how many loops are in the Velaryon family tree at this point.
Just like the Targs may be a lot of I breedings

in regards to older Rhaenyra, in the book she is portrayed as really letting herself go after giving birth. the adult version is no longer considered 'the realm's delight' so the casting of D'arcy is probably spot on

Exactly. If I am Ser Criston I would tell the King, Lord Corlys and whoever is trying me that Joffrey made vile statements regarding both the princess and her husband. As her sworn shield I had to defend her honor and punish these slanders. Then if anyone challenges this demand a trial by combat.

I would agree. By the time of GOT the only black skinned people are from the summer isles or mereen. Seems that any black lords of Westeros were either killed off or their blood line totally diluted by the time GOT takes place.

The Viserys memes right now are on point.
I’m going to be sad when he dies and Paddy Considine is no longer on the show. He hasn’t gotten near enough credit for how well he has acted as Viserys. You can just feel his angst by looking at him at this point.

To be fair she doesn't look too bad with her Targ wig on. Also as others have pointed out Rhaenyra loses her looks when she gets older.
