The showrunner Ryan Condal came out and said season 2 will be just all out savage war …so get ready.

I don’t see us getting it in 2023 though.

Maybe this has been touched on in other threads, but I have a hard time focusing when Aemond is on screen and he’s supposed to be like 16 but the dude looks 33.

They've taken agency away from a lot of characaters.

I kinda sorta maybe like the Aemond change though. He's not just a psychopathic idiot. He's clearly a smart person. He knows what this means.

I think this is intentional. Remember what Rhaenyra said about taking dragons to war- Everything Burns

I thought the show made it pretty obvious that the prince kid even lost control of his little dragon.. after he flamed the big dragons face he's yelling to obey.
Big dragon goes rogue and his rider is trying to calm him down.

I think it did a good job of showing a little humanity to the one eyed guy. But now it's done. He was already seen as a loose cannon.

Odd thing is that Drogon and the dragon killed tonight should be roughly the same age.

A few years old when we saw him before the 6 year time jump verses 8 or so years (maybe less) in GOT.

Yes, but one grew up inthe Dragonpit/Dragonstone, and the other grew up in the wild- it makes a huge difference as was spelled out many times before, Drogon was supposedly much bigger than his brother which were kept in the cave.

I think we get a bit of a false impression of control from what we saw with Dany’s three in GOT because she hatched them and raised them like her children. And the three grew up together. That would definitely create a different kind of connection.

They were also not raised for battle and trained. And didn’t engage in battle until much later. Some of these dragons in HOD have fought battles to this point and even with different riders.

Also worth saying at this point, is for all the handwringing that Emma D’Arcy might not be as good as their predecessor, they have 100% knocked it out of the park.

Although we will see ( maybe) what happens in the books, Dany when last read about didn't have a whole lotta of control over Drogon.

Everything we’ve seen so far is you claim a dragon or you bond with it or whatever, and it does what you tell it to do
Aemond put Vhagar into predator mode with the whole chase and taunt thing. Arrax blowing some self defense fire only exacerbated Vhagar’s predator instincts

With the success of this show I hope they adapt the blackfyre rebellion next under the HoTD banner. Off topic a bit

Yeah I’ve been done with the episode for a bit, but now I’m really anxious for next season

I hope we get to see with the other son now, he went to Winterfell and the Vale correct?

Edit: May be dumb question but how would the Blacks actually even know Aemond killed him if it was just them in that scene? Don’t think anyone in Storms End (who just score to the Greens) would snitch..

I have wondered if they do that to make him a better match for Daemon.

Would be nice if they made some mention of needing to be worthy or needing to have garnered the respect of whatever with the dragon

Brought me back to my childhood watching Ash try to tame Charizard lol

The dragon Daemon was singing to Vermithor is a big boy. Almost Vhagar size but not quite.

I'm happy with the pacing. We had basically no filler all season due to the time jumps. I can see how some people are down on this episode but the finale was only a let down because book readers have been hyping it up for weeks. I'd rather them take their time fleshing shite out than the rush we got in seasons 7 and 8 of GOT

they should’ve just made Alycent a villain. It’s much more believable than her believing her husband changed his mind.

I agree. It's a weak premise and every time they mention the song of ice and fire I get angry. This show has been great but they should've just left that part out in my opinion
