Homicide, Life on the Street I thought had better actors. Giancarlo Esposito. Yaphet Kotto, Melissa Leo and John Sena ( not the wrestler) and originally Richard Belzer. They were solid.

And Ned Beatty, Andrea Braugher, John Seda, John Polito, and Max Perlich. It was a who's who of mid '90s acting talent. Polito and Beatty together were awesome.

Well, I appreciate all the responses. More confused now, though.

Homicide: Life on the Street is intriguing, but doesn't appear to be streaming anywhere.

My bad. Didn't realize you couldn't stream. That is criminal considering all the crap you see at the drop of a hat.

Looks like I can only find Homicide Life on the Streets on DVD. Didn't remember till looking at episodes that they had crossover episode with Law and Order. They say this inspired The Wire. Great writing and cast

David Simon created both shows. I need to read his original book at some point.

"Hill Street Blues" for me. Never did like that fricking ginger, David Caruso and not a big fan of Dennis Franz.

Well... you might want to stop watching Hill Street Blues before you get to Season 6.

No... I think I get what he's saying.

edit= spoilers (funny for such an old show)

If you see Hill Street first, you have a certain perception of Franz, that will take awhile to shake. Definitely colored my perception of NYPD Blue for awhile
