Gorilla Grodd is not a comedy character. Maybe it'll be good, but my first thought is of the She-Hulk series.

Gunn might also just convinced that as the guy who made Guardians of the Galaxy a franchise that he can do the same thing with Clayface, Jimmy Olsen, and Gorilla Grodd. Which ignores the success of the G of the G piggybacking off of the 2010s Marvel run.

Not sure how this tracks with a Gorilla Grodd series, which will need to use CGI heavily for the title character.

+1 And it’s for 8 episodes. This will cost more than the 40 mil number that's being reported on.

Certainly possible.
The Flash TV show did a good job with Grodd. If they can't do better than that, I'd prefer they leave it alone.

As a lifetime Jimmy Olsen fan, I'll just add:
• For years, the Jimmy Olsen comic was one of the top 10 titles selling, outselling Spider-Man and Fantastic Four until 1969.
• Gorillas were a mainstay on DC covers throughout the Jimmy Olsen years, and Grodd did make appearances in Metropolis.
• Jimmy Olsen comics introduced Darkseid, possibly the most important post-Silver-Age DC character.
• For years, the Jimmy Olsen comic was one of the top 10 titles selling, outselling Spider-Man and Fantastic Four until 1969.
• Gorillas were a mainstay on DC covers throughout the Jimmy Olsen years, and Grodd did make appearances in Metropolis.
• Jimmy Olsen comics introduced Darkseid, possibly the most important post-Silver-Age DC character.
