I don't understand why you would care if a movie is delayed if you aren't gonna watch it no matter when it is released
Normally I'd agree, but the holders of this IP have been hostile to the fanbase for half a decade at least now, so there is a certain joy to be found in failure.

We care because resources are finite.
When capital, people, and time are wasted on pointless projects, more popular or lucrative endeavors are sacrificed.
