Just saw tonight is the last of 3 episodes. Is it any good?

Not I but that is because I have never heard of it. Really hoping somebody can provide some insight.

Damn, I didn't even know about this. I hate that I apparently missed a lot of it. I wonder if they'll be doing a re-run.

Me neither. I just so happened to see a banner ad for it here on TD.

I've enjoyed it. Last night they covered the Battle of Belleau Wood. Some consider this to be the Marines finest single battle.
When the retreating French forces pretty much pleaded with the Marines to retreat, Marine Captain Lloyd Williams famously said "Retreat? Hell, we just got here"

Last nights show talked about this also. Stated that the first thing the American soldiers noticed was not only how easy it was to get alcohol, but how the French were pretty much giving it to them for free.

Yep. Highly recommended.
We need another Black Jack Pershing. That man knew how to run an army.

Great so far. Really glad PBS put this together.
The episodes are online/streaming on PBS app as well if anybody wants to watch.

It's been great. Ken Burns can't put out a bad documentary.

This isn't Ken Burns.
However, Ken Burns is putting out a Vietnam doc later this year.

It's fairly detailed and paced out at the same time, so it's working so far.
The entire first two hour episode is entirely pre-U.S.-involvement, which is nice. Shows how we walked a tightrope of staying out of the war while profiting from it... until we were pushed too far.
My grandfather fought in WWI. He took a piece of shrapnel in the final days of the war. His family didn't know where he was back in the U.S. until they received a letter from him saying that he was in a military hospital up north.

The story of Leroy Johnston in Part 3 is just damn sad.
