I read the books last February, and caught up with the movies after. I wish I would have read them sooner, but I was in High School when the first one came out, and always regarded the whole series as "Children's books" until I actually read them. They will easily go down in history as literary classics.

its my favorite or 2nd favorite too, but JK Rowling says it is her least favorite. Found it interesting.

The series is okay in the 1st 2 books and really takes off in the 3rd

The books are very, very good. Deathly Hallows I and II are definitely the best movies of the series, hands down, and encompasses the last book a lot better than the other films and their books. Especially GoF; so much of the Quidditch World Cup was cut out of the movie!! And Half Blood Prince was a let down compared to the book.

My favorite book/movie is Prisoner of Azkaban. It is very different than every other books/movies plot-wise.

The only book I read was Deathly Hallows. I watched all the movies prior to DH1's release. I didn't want to watch DH 1&2 without reading first. I absolutely loved the book. But It ruined the movie for me. Mainly because it made the movie feel rushed. And of course they kind of fricked up the end from the book so..... Take it for what it's worth. Great series. Loved how it got darker and darker towards the end. I just realized that at the beginning of every movie/book, it's Harry's birthday. Just noticed that watching the movies over the weekend.

I don't read hardly at all. But I could not put Deathly Hallows down. I was completely taken by this book. It was weird because the more I got into it, the more sorry I for Harry Potter and Dumbledore. They were under so much pressure trying to figure everything out, and save everyone from pain and death. It was weird. I absolutely loved the half blook prince chapter in DH.

Prisoner of Azkaban is the best movie by far, but that's because the director didn't worry about fealty to the text and just made a real good movie in Rowling's world. Most of the other movies just feel like running to hit plot points.

Best book? Order of the Phoenix for me. Also, to be fair, that movie has my favorite set piece in the Ministry of Magic. Great scene.

yeah that was a cool scene in the movie. Although the Chamber of Secrets was pretty neat.

The movies are great imo. I love PoA, GoF, HBP, and DHII especially but in general enjoy them all as I am a huge fan. I first read the books several years before the first movie came out like many and every time either a movie or new book came out, it was a huge event.

Books are much better of course, so I would advise you to read them if you enjoy the movies. HP is one of those series that every couple years I'll get an itch for to go back and reread, never gets old

I never read books and then when Sorceror's Stone came out at the movies my wife wanted to go see it. I thought the movie was great and my wife bought me the first 4 books. I was hooked and after that I became an avid reader. I have to say that is one thing I am thankful for. Reading has become something I very much enjoy and I credit the HP series for that.

Goblet of Fire is my favorite. I would've like the Quidditch World Cup to be included in the movie but then it would've been five hours long.

Never read the book, but I got the feeling alot was probably left out. Lots of good action, but didn't reall add anything to the story line. Talking about Goblet of Fire.

harry potter is the shite. people my age grew up with the books and movies and it might be the one thing in our lives that fricking EVERYONE loves. you can make a harry potter reference at any party or hang out and (while seemingly a nerdy thing) absolutely everyone will laugh or join in. the series gives me a warm feeling thinking about it, and i wish it never ended.

Wasn't that in the movie? I know it wasn't as detailed as in the book, but it was included.

I really got into this series when HBP came out. I had watched the first 2 when I was younger & missed the next 3. They are now one of my favorite series. I'm currently reading the books the first time. Just started GoF. PoA is my favorite so far. I'm sure they'll get better as I keep reading. Sucks it's over though
