Had high hopes for The Americans...

Then I got to Season 1 Episode 5 and went totally off the rails with nonsense.
No way a Soviet operative makes it as high as the head of the Russian Rezidentura being that completely fricking stupid. And that did it for me. Anyone who knows the Soviets back during those times knows that to make it far in politics means you know the game like no other.
So it cheapens the show and makes the Russians look so fricking stupid as to defy logic.
Any one with any sense at all that is a man at 60 knows how women work. Show lost me I'm done.
Any suggestions for another? Breaking Bad may be the only show I will finish from beginning to end that doesn't become complete horse shite.

I'm not sure of the particular episode you're referring to, but the head of the Rezidentura, overall, was depicted as smart and strategic - even if one character, in particular, wasn't allowed to share information with him.
