Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has tested higher than any Marvel Studios movie in the company’s nine-year history. The movie’s score: a perfect 100.

Media Seems to Push or Enable this Narative:
Marvel = Good
DC = Bad
I expect this movie to be good, but I find it hilarious how the initial hype is always awesome for Marvel compared to DC.

Should probably post this to be fair:

But because the Marvel testing process is not as random as other studio procedures, the 100 score for Guardians 2 is not necessarily able to be compared to other non-Marvel movies. And testing, of course, is a complicated process and not indicative of a movie’s box office performance or reviews.

To be fair, the WORST Marvel movie is head and shoulders better than anything DC has made so far. (Not counting Nolan's stuff, since it's not in the current continuity.)
DC has been an absolute train wreck, and whenever there is DC news, it's always bad.

Ummm, hype for BvS is that it would be the greatest comic book film of all-time. That the mere presence of Batman and Superman on the screen would make it one of the most important films ever. It was supposed to change EVERYTHING for DC and people were talking about it beating Avengers take at the Box Office.
And Zack Snyder does make films with great trailer material, regardless of how good the movie is, the trailer was pretty exciting (that's kind of the problem, Snyder's films are like trailer moments strung together by weak films, but that's another discussion).
The hype was massive and far higher than any Marvel film not named Avengers or Civil War, and it was still higher than those two.

Kurt Russell as Star Lords dad will steal the show imo. I bet it got a 100 because of Baby Groot

You don't think the best score in it's 9 year history is a good measure of how this movie will be received by the public?

Just who the audience was - relatives and friends. Not necessarily the most fair group.
I mean relative to the scores, this is good news, but it's still a controlled group, rather than a random sample.

Kurt Russell
I kind of dig that we've seen nothing of Russell, I want to be completely surprised.
Maybe we get him in the last trailer, one single line.

Lego Batman just got a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, so your excuses for DC making shitty movies is bullshite.

Insiders confirm that extremely rare if not unprecedented score, saying the movie, which Disney is set to release May 5, bested the previous top Marvel scorers, Iron Man 3 and Avengers, both of which tested in the high 90s out of 100
such a high standard

To be fair, as big a letdown as Iron Man 3 was, it was still better than Suicide Squad, Man of Steel and BvS

This is an audience score, not a "Film Quality in Relation to Citizen Kane" score
To that point, Iron Man 3 was RT certified fresh with 79%, and made $1.22 billion
Avengers was RT 92% and made $1.52 billion
That's good company to be in. They were enjoyable films for a general audience that made a ton of money. Honestly, that's what Marvel is aiming for. Films that audiences can enjoy and WANT to enjoy.
GotG has a good shot at crossing $1 billion

Oh, so I guess that doesn't mean as much as we originally thought.

Fair enough, but 'extremely rare 100' implies something significantly different than 'a little better than Iron Man 3.'

Speak for yourself. While I was hopeful for the film and still think the Extended Edition makes it a good movie, I always had reservations because of who was directing it.

Congrats? General Public Sentiment was way different. And the hype was there.

yep, Batman and Superman are both way bigger than anyone that had appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to that point. Spiderman is probably the only Marvel character who can compare to the popularity of Batman or Supes.
