Lot of good ones mentioned in here. Many worthy candidates.

My fave is probably The Dark Knight

Ghost Ship

Too bad the rest of the movie didn't live up to that scene.

Not the greatest but law abiding citizen and baby driver both have great opening scenes for different reasons

I forgot about Baby Driver. That opening scene was great. I’m a big fan of the Brighton Rock scenes.

Hard to beat SPR, but I will offer ST 2009 as a sleeper.

I'll defend you on this one. It's the best scene of any of the JJ Trek movies.

Many greats already mentioned.

I’ll nominate Red October, simply for one of the best pre-cgi moments ever.

They welded two 350ft barges together to create the sweeping shot of a Soviet Typhoon class sub.

There's a lot of good choices, but it's all relative to the overall experience.

To me, there's nothing that has ever topped this- I was 8, saw it opening weekend in the theaters

You have to understand what was expected in 1977. We came in cold, was hoping it would be as good as a good Star Trek episode...

Many great ones already listed but I would say that the opening to blazing saddles has to be at least in the top 10.
