My wife loves this movie and keeps singing the songs from it this afternoon. I’ve never seen it, but from what I read and and heard, it’s terrible. She insists we watch it.

Anyone seen it and if so, whatcha think?

Haven’t seen it in decades but I can tell you it’s better than the new Cats movie. Give it a watch, you might get lucky just by sitting through it. It’s no original Grease though

Word around Hollywood is MP was basically a hooker who got stupid amounts of screen time. They retired her number in the casting couch HOF.

I've always liked it and think it's underrated. Plus Michelle Pfeiffer is a major babe.

What I heard is she was a studio "call girl" (a few steps up from streetwalker).

More than one famous actress from the Classic Era until today started that way. IIRC Joan Crawford claimed Bette Davis was the only major female star not to advance via the casting couch.

She was 22 when she got Grease and "worked" for 4 years to get that role so she was probably a studio gal at age 18.

Well at least she worked for her roles. Notice how when Sharon Stone hit 40 and got married no studio wanted her in a role anymore.

The wife loves it. I don't understand why other than she thinks Michael is hot

It’s not good but it doesn’t inspire hate. It’s still somewhat entertaining and it has peak Michelle Pfeiffer and some blonde with big tits.

There is a hilarious white shrouded biker fantasy scene toward the end that will make you chuckle even if that wasn’t the intent.

There is a damn awful song in the second half of the film called Charades that has all the charm of a slowly deflating balloon.

“Behind my charades...”

I liked it better than the first and the songs are more catchy.

Ouch...

Caulfield had already made his Broadway debut with acclaimed roles in The Elephant Man and Entertaining Mr. Sloane. Having seen his performances, Allan Carr offered Caulfield the role of Michael over thousands of applicants. Unlike co-star Pfeiffer, Caulfield's career following Grease 2 was damaged by the film's failure. He has been quoted as saying: "Before Grease 2 came out, I was being hailed as the next Richard Gere or John Travolta. However, when Grease 2 flopped, nobody would touch me. It felt like a bucket of cold water had been thrown in my face. It took me 10 years to get over Grease 2."

quote:

Jim Jacobs, best known for creating the book, storyline, characters, lyrics for the 1971 musical Grease, described the sequel at the time as "awful ... the pits." In an interview 27 years later, Jacobs noted that Grease 2 "still brings a brief frown to my face."
