That sounds good to me. Great shows usually start going downhill around 7-8. We're only in the third now so we have more than double to go

This release makes me think GRRM has most of the story complete and that the only thing left to do is arrange them. No way a statement would be made like this unless he talked to GRRM and they think that the time line is within reason.

But how will the readers and nonreaders fight if we are all Hodors?

Epic meltdown mode on this board. Chaos would ensue. Each week's thread would be 100+ pages.

Also, I would love for a Robert's Rebellion movie series or even finish books 1-6 the show and do the last book as a 2 or 3 part movie trilogy.

I guess one thing they have to worry about are the child actors outgrowing their characters. I think Bran and Sansa have kind of already done this. Arya too in a certain way. The actress who plays Shireen will doubtless age over the next 4 years.

Of course Danny was already played by an "adult" and I think they kept how old the characters was vague so she could show skin.

For lesser seen characters such as Rickon, Tommen and Myrcella, I guess they could always cast other young actors to step in to keep them looking young but that would be jarring in itself.

I expect Dorne to be cut down significantly. I just expect Quentyn to show up and that's really as far as the plot will go, and then have Arrianne show up later on.

Agree. We'll know about Dorne and that's about it. Quentyn will show up.

And yeah, I think if they're planning on 7 seasons, a lot of Books 4 and 5 are going to make it into the 4th season. The only characters arc I'd imagine to be around the same as the second half of SoS is Jon's. The rest will be totally different.

FWIW I think 4 will definitely be covered in 1 season (or even less) like season 1 and 2 were.

I still think GoT has enough source material to go on 8 or 9 seasons, but I understand the concern that actors want to do other projects and how the Stark kids are looking older each season too.

for sure. i'm leaving, but before the great civil war erupts in tigerdroperos, i'm going to leave with these comments

in THIS series, with shocking deaths occurring all the time, speaking of characters surviving in later books is a spoiler

i'm not upset or anything, just stating that for the record

Agreed. Let's hope they have common sense though.

Of imagine there will be at least 8 since they're dividing this season.

I guess they could combine books 4 and 5 into a season or maybe a season and a half?

Would love for it to get the Firefly/Serenity treatment with a movie to wrap it up

I believe they are going to mix in book four with book three. Povs would get tough for non book readers.

besides the getting cancelled part and only making the movie because of fan backlash
