The only question I have, is why didn't Tyrion know adout Euron's fleet and make plans to counter it? Varas with his little birds had to know Euron was building a thousand ship fleet. You just don't miss something like that.
They hadn't reached Dorne yet, so they had no troops on the ship. I think Tyrion, Varys, and probably Dany knew of Euron's fleet and they knew he'd come after Yara and Theon. Send them to Dorne to "pick up troops" and draw Euron away from the real force. Dorne still has troops, you still have your unsullied, and you still have the fleet from Slaver's Bay and the Tyrell fleet. If Yara had already picked up the troops from Dorne, though, it could have been a lot worse.

you stick 50 - 100 of them on the walls of the castle, and depending on their range, they could be could for defense.

Also I kind of chuckled at the dragon spear they showed, it was big and badass but how many opportunities do they think they are gonna have to shoot a still target dragon?
I would imagine they will build more than one

I think the midget ends up killing Cersei

Help me out here, friends... my TV cut out from when Jon was telling everyone he was going to go to Dragonstone (and then Lady Mormont said that the king of the North should stay in the north) and then came back when Arya was about to become wolf food. What did I miss?

Dammit.
Yeah, I figured I'd watch that bit tonight when I get a chance.

And how can a fleet sneak up on another fleet without anyone sounding an alarm?
Clearly they are incompetent. You know, since they were sailing around "secretly" in a time of war with every single deck alight! Way to be badass pirates, Yara-led-Iron Born!
The whole scenario was ridiculous and requires a lot of suspended disbelief, even for a show with dragons and ice zombies.
I'm sure it's been said more than once so far in this thread, but the show's writers are suffering from not having source material to lean on. Thanks, Fat Man Martin.

If anyone wants to head to Reddit to read what happens next week you can. I went over there and some dude posted, in detail, scene by scene of what happened last night. He posted it last monday. I regret going over there and reading it.

Lure one into somewhere like the Dragon Pits, have a bunch of things lined up, and shoot the frick out of it. One of them has to die so that Dany will ride Drogon and Jon will ride the other...

Anybody notice how it kinda sounded like Dany got a little wet when they were naming off Jon's achievements?
Of course, Emilia Clarke doesn't really know how to speak in anything but monotone but there was the slightest uptick in her voice.

Right as Lady Mormont was finishing her speech the White Walkers stormed Winterfell and killed everyone except for Jon Snow and Davos, who are now retreating to Dragonstone to find Dany in a last ditch effort to save the North.

Theon hopefully stays lost at sea forever
Maybe Reek gets picked up by Gendry and the two make a grand entrance to save the day later on in the season.

Especially brans storyline. You think it would be easy to understand after he sat out an entire season
yeah, I could flip that and turn it to prove my point
if the showrunners have shown over time they have no issues not showing series regulars for weeks on end or an entire season.....
why shoehorn Bran's scene into the 1st half of the first episode if it's so out of continuity? It could have just as easily been cut into the scene immediately after we see Jon and co depart for the boat.
now, instead of a huge question mark, as to why, it's "Jon is going to miss both Arya and Bran while he's away"

Still, if you are sailing in (non-magical) fog, your vision is basically nonexistent. The skill it would take to scout Yara's fleet without her noticing, find the fog bank, hide in it, have it move towards her fleet, and guide your ship through it to sail into her flagship is pretty crazy.
We know in the books Euron fricks with magical shite. I doubt the we get the dragonbinder horn in the show, but doesn't Euron using some magic make sense here?

Its nothing individually glaring - the show has been suffering a "death from a thousand cuts" type deal - and before anyone gets mad, it is still a good show but it just has not lived up to the promise of the early seasons for me.

Season 6 was one of their best seasons. I'm not sure how anyone can say Season 6 was a decline. Season 5 OTOH....

Season 6 ended well, i don't think it was as good as 1 through 3 as a whole - but i really don't need to get into an argument about the show. Everyone enjoys different types of fantasy stories and for different reasons.
