Nothing good ever happens to a Stark.
So, for all practical purposes, Ned Stark's line is gone, if R+L=J, right?
Sansa isn't a "Stark" - as she will take her husband's name. Sansa (or Arya for that matter) will take her husband's name, and regardless of the hereditary "Stark" blood, will not be a Stark as that term is widely used in Westeros. Rickon is dead (on the show, at least) and Bran has other duties and is unlikely to father any children.
Any other hypothetical Stark heirs aren't Starks (if R+L=J&M, even). And, let's face the brutal realities. After this latest Battle of Winterfell, the North won't have an army to speak of for a generation, and that's before they fight the Night King's army.
Interesting times. For show purposes, I would kill all the male Umber and Karstark heirs and give Last Hearth to the Mormonts. The Glovers would be on probation and I would expand the holdings of the surviving wildling "lords" and the Reeds.

And apparently Ramsay's scouts suck if they didn't know the Vale army was on the move and that close.

Going to be interesting to see how Littlefinger handles himself.
At some point, Varys will spill the beans about LF's role in the "chaos is a ladder" deal, and the death of Ned Stark - I don't care if she has 20 children with him by that time, she kills him in his sleep when that's proven.

After this battle, Jon's legend has to be huge, right? What's to stop a whole lot of people deciding Jon is someone they can get behind?

is it? he kinda got his arse kicked
LF kinda has him by the balls

What happened in the episode was great, but did anyone not feel a bit letdown that it was kind of predictable? Like I knew the end before the beginning, and that's kind of why you usually like episode 9
Like it was shot well and it was great, but I was waiting for a "holy f" moment and never got it

yes it was predictable but I didn't mind because of how well done it was

What do you think people will remember as word passes: Jon Snow busting down the door and beating Ramsey's arse, or Littlefinger and the Vail riding in and saving the day?
For all the people know, Jon planned that from the start. And I truly believe that Jon has no aims at any throne.

Nope.

Yeah, it was predictable, and the Vale army coming in last minute to save the day was extremely cliche. And Ramsay raining arrows down on his own cavalry was straight out of Edward Longshanks' playbook, but it was all very well shot.
Even though I knew it was going to end up alright for Jon & co, it was tense.
Plus even the Meereen scenes were good... I loved it when the dragons torched that ship, and when Grey Worm went 2-for-1 on the masters.

Even if he's Targaryen?

well Jon doesn't have an army and LF has a lot...so it may not matter what people think

I called it pretty early - even before SJU (roast in hell - your Umber oaths are wind, MFer) committed the reserve. Ramsay's overconfidence was fatal after all, despite fighting a pretty smart battle about 90% of the way through.
Still no actual sign of actual Manderlys. I'm disappointed that either overall, or at least for the show, the GNC is a load of horse manure.

Nights King is going to change a lot of conceptions about people

I read someone's theory before the episode (not sure if it was here) that LF's army would come in and save Jon but also kill all of the wildlings.
I think that would have been a pretty cool way to go about it.

I honestly think Sansa was trying to stall the attack and argue with Jon bc she wanted to wait and see if LF would show up with his forces. It was obvious she didn't want to tell Jon about it, so she just argued about how they didn't have enough men and how he shouldn't attack and wait.

The only people that care about that are the clergy of Rh'llor, Jon, Sam, Davos and the wildlings. Until the southerners even look north, it is a secondary concern in their affairs. The fact that it should be the primary concern is of no moment.
Hell, they're going to have to convince LF and young Robert to even mobilize to the wall in the first place. They think the battle is over now that Sansa holds Winterfell.
ETA: Even Dany thinks the real fight is going to be at King's Landing.

I still don't believe this is dead. There was a season 6 casting call that fit Manderly's description. Also, we have multiple scenes with the Frey's next episode.
Part of me thinks that after this victory, other Northern Lords (including Manderly) are going to come pledge fealty at Winterfell. We may still get a "the North remembers" speech, followed buy some Frey pies, then a wedding slaughter at the Twins.

I'd be down with this...
