But that explanation isn't interesting at all. What is interesting is how much Tywin despises his most competent and the child most like him. The fact of the matter is if Tyrion wasn't born a dwarf, he would be Tywin's favored son, despite the drinking and whoring and being indirectly responsible for his wife's death. Tywin hates Tyrion because he represents everything Tywin hates about himself in physical form. Tywin hating Tyrion because he suspects he's Aerys son destroys their relationship entirely.

I've seen you post this before and I agree with every bit of it 100%

yeah, I'm new to the movie tv board, bro, and i'm not reading the book.

I just think that George R.R. Martin put his foreshadowing in Tyrion's line to Jon Snow: "Every dwarf is a bastard."

Not sure if this was posted but I've never thought of Jon Snow having another name.

It would be a twist that Cercei/Jaime are Aerys and Tyrion is Tywin's only kid

but then there's the mother dying during childbirth thing. there is something to birthing a dragon baby, I guess.

Don't come post old arse theories in the book reader thread, announce you don't read the books, and then refuse to go research the theory. We have all talked about that at length.

IMO Jon is either short for his real name or alludes to his real name, which is likely extremely Targaryen sounding. Ned couldn't bring back a kid named Jahaerys and pretend like he named it that

Why do you say it so definitively?

I'm not sure. I think he hates Tyrion for the same reasons Cercei does. That being they blame Tyrion for killing his mom.

I agree Cersei would never forgive Tyrion regardless, because she's an insane vengeful monster. But Tywin I think his first thought after the devastation of her death would be "This child better be worth it". He would have given Tyrion a chance to rebuild his honor in his eyes. If Tyrion wasn't a whoring drunk (which is entirely due to Tywin's mistreatment of him) he'd certainly make Tywin proud. Tywin only made him Hand due to his reluctant acceptance that Tyrion was far more competent than Cersei and was the only one he could trust at that point to do the job he needed to do. It wasn't to honor him.

I only suspect that Tyrion is the bastard son of Aerys and Joanna.

Dude, I was exactly where you were about 3 yrs ago...but only for a couple of days.

Credit where it's due -Landshark convinced me(in the crackpot thread) that this would undermine the story on quite a few levels...and the timeline just doesn't add up.

The possibility of one or the other or both of the twins being Aerys's is greater...but still just crackpot.

But they do represent both sides of the Targaryen coin...more and more as time goes on...so there's that.

And Tyrion being Tywin's TRUE son (especially over Jaime) is much more appetizing.

The more I thought about Ae+J=T...the less I liked it as being a real possibility.

If Tyrion wasn't Tywin's true son, no one could ever convince me he wouldn't have him killed. Especially after his wife died in childbirth.

I hate that theory with a passion. Tyrion is tywin but since he is a dwarf he developed a soft spot for the weak

I posted this in one of the many GOT threads two days ago, but it was predicted that the reddit user and her theory would be mentioned in an article and it is a day later.

Another thing the article didn't mention but the reddit user did was that Magar the Cruel was the King before the 2nd Jaehaerys (Jon's great grandfather) seems to be similar to Cersei. Jaehaerys had the task of rebuilding what Magar destroyed.

But seems more than half the regular viewers have NO idea who Rhaegar even is much less that he's the father. There are some that think that Ned is still father or that Robert is. So our Hodors aren't the only ones.

I do too. And we've had some of GRRMs supplemental ASOIAF material confirm you can be a non-Targ dragon rider. So it's not like you have to have one to have the other.

I sent the video clip of TOJ to my coworker who is deaf and asked him if he could read their lips. Haven't gotten a response yet.

So apparently HBO just confirmed that Sapochnik will not direct an episode in season 7.
