Oberyn was pissed at Mace about it because he felt Mace had forced Willas into the tourney too young and he was unprepared, which led to the injury.
Imagine that. Mace making a stupid arse decision.

So what was up with Qyburns voice when he first spoke to Pycelle? It sounded like he had just finished sucking on some helium.

Yeah, there was no trickery. Oberyn injured him during a joust at a tourney if I remember correctly. Oberyn was pissed at Mace about it because he felt Mace had forced Willas into the tourney too young and he was unprepared, which led to the injury.
To be fair to the Tyrells at large, Oberyn did not deserve the benefit of the doubt due to him poisoning High Lords he has no true quarrel against. He'd played fricked up games for far too long at that point. Willas might believe him, but I'd carry a grudge against Oberyn if I were a member of that family.

cersei is the mayor of kings landing and the lady of the crownlands
that's it
she's not going to be naming any wardens of anything
she killed the lord of casterly rock, killed the lord and heir of highgarden, her family sacked riverrun and made sworn enemies of the martells, the storm lands are without a lord and the vale has sworn for the north
she's a substitute teacher

don't buy that the Lannister or Tyrell houses are dead/dying. Baratheon, perhaps. Bolton, most definitely.
But the former two are large families. There are cousins that will fall in line.
There is a town full of Lannisters and there are a number of houses that claim descent from Garth the Green. They would surely be happy to replace the Tyrells.

I don't even see why they would crown Cersei at all. Anyone who supports her must know what fate awaits them in a few years. Is it just Robert Strong being that terrifying? This is like the 9/11 conspiracy theories being true and all that Bush has to back him up was the Secret Service. The citizens would kill Bush eventually and soon, just like Cersei is done for. She unleashed a major attack on her own people at large. I just don't see anyone following her after that.

Not with a batshit crazy woman who carries out a terrorist plot in which thousands of people die over a drunken whim in a futile attempt to save herself. Plus Cersei had already lost 4 of the Seven Kingdoms before this, and the Tyrells have the largest army, with Dorne and Dany to back them up. All the crown has to back them up is a largely depleted Lannister force. And keep in mind that Cersei also deliberately killed the Lord of Casterly Rock.
Cersei damned herself and her house by lighting the Sept of Baelor on fire with multiple people in it. She'll be known as the Mad Queen in history for hundreds of years over that act.

Who will Randal Tarley support?
And no one crowned Cersei, she crowned herself. No one was there to stop her.

She was next in line of succession

I was considering today how far certain characters have come in 1 season.
Jon went from literally dead, to King in the North
Cersei went from naked in the streets having shite thrown on her, to Queen
Arya went from blind in HOBAW to killing 3 freys, including the Lord of the Crossing, inside the Twins

I'm sorry, I don't want to sound smug...but goddamn I can't read another thread with Hodors in it.

I just think after a woman openly murders 2,000+ people, that you'd have the sense to not allow her to be crowned regardless and to kill her. There isn't an act even close to this before for another King/Queen to inherit the throne .Hell, isn't Jaime technically in front of her in the hierarchy to inherit? Put him well over her on the throne whose actions show he completely stands against this massacre.

I'm not so sure people actually know she did it. Other than Marg, no one had a clue. And besides, all those people are dead. The only ones who know about that are Qyburn and his little birds

That's why the mountain is with her so yeah good luck finding anyone willing to try

I've gotten about halfway through the thread so far (finally watched the episode today), but has anyone mentioned the Blackfish? "The famous Blackfish killed by foot soldiers, they say?". It seemed like the way they were talking, it was in doubt. Does anyone think he's totally still alive and being a badass?

Do you think the people think it was a coincidence she wasn't at her own trial ?
