I think some of the posters may be referring to Barristan as Old Balls while others are referring to Jorah.
Ahhh, hard to tell when they call him Norah, Jonah, Noah, etc. frick, they have people over there still calling Joff "Jeffrey"

Well it's not like they've seen it written out. They only hear it. Misspelling names or places (even though some are shown in the opening scene) is not a big deal.

Lol, I thought by Old Balls they meant Barristan. Oh well
.
I read an interesting post over there about Baelish that a nonreader said they observed upon rewatching episodes 1-7. I think he should post it in the middle ground thread because it would create good discussion.

I don't usually read the middle ground thread myself, but couldn't you give credit to them and copy/paste it in and viola?
Or is that frowned upon? haha

That's what I've done before. If they don't want a "book reader" answer to it then they don't have to go to the Middle Ground thread.

Go ahead and post it in the middle ground, giving appropriate credit of course.

So after mulling it over it this morning, I'm a bit disappointed in how the show has displayed Samwell. Now I realize he's a lumbering idiot for the most part of the first couple seasons, but it feels like they're not doing much to garner view favor him. Sam the Slayer arriving was great, but I'm worried that at this point he's too far along as a "weakling" to redeem himself (especially after seeing some of the non-reader responses).
One of the very few things I'm disappointed about with the show as a whole.

I disagree i just started dance and I still consider him to be chump for the most part. It isn't till jon inspires him that he starts to show confidence.

Just read the nonreaders thread. Some posters seem to be picking up on things a lot better than the beginning of the season. Evolving from hodors to patch faces

Got to disagree with you. When reading the books, far more often than not, I find myself growing exasperated with Sam (whether it's his chapter or someone else's perspective). Outside of the election, I can't remember any point where I've enjoyed Sam. The show has produced the same reaction from me.

2 people asked for it. They don't have to click a link if they don't want to

How hard is it to mind your own business. If he wants to post over there, that is his deal. Quit trying to be the policeman. It's not your problem.

I've been a bit worried about that too. I was especially hoping that his killing the White Walker would be witnessed by a couple of Nights Watch members.
But I think they did take some steps to give him viewer symphony. I really liked his talk with Gilley and the "no, that's just the way I talk" when she thought he was making fun of her. And that his father was "a different type of cruel".
Because, I think we have to face that even though he has many great qualities, Sam is a pretty huge coward in both the books and show. Randall Tarley may be a martinet but I think he really tried everything he could think of to groom Sam. And Jon pretty much had to defend him from the other recruits without much help from Sam himself.

Well, they didn't work. The only thing the Hodor thread took from him killing the Other last night is that he is a fat moron that left the dragonglass behind (even thought we know it shattered and became useless).

What was Randyll supposed to do? Let the biggest pussy in the seven kingdoms take over a great house?
