He was dealing with the Mereneese Knot. No longer an issue.
Yeah...ok.
See you at the Winds release in 2018.
(Although I do have to say the "Mereneese Knot" reference on the show made me laugh)

You don't acknowledge that he had major issues with this?
He says he did. We'll see. He also had severe issues with AFFC, jumping the story forward 5 years, etc.
I don't take him at his word.

No wonder you couldn't remember who got married at the RW.
As if the two are related. Don't be a douche.

I do. We are talking at minimum 5 different major characters all traveling to the same place needing to leave at specific moments as well as arrive at specific moments which a specific set of events called for. I commend him for getting it done as fast as he did.

He would have had to kill off all future Starks and extinguish the line forever.

and everyone seems to be losing confidence in Robb
I think something will happen to change that soon. Not sure what, but he seems to keep losing allies and people who believe in him.
Oh you poor Cocomo. Yeah, it'll change alright, they'll go from losing confidence in Robb to finding a new liege lord

Again, he says that, but he said the book would be out soon so many times in that long delay that I just don't believe the guy.
He's enjoying his life and that's great. The books are just not important to him anymore. I've gotten over it. I just don't expect the books any time soon, and I refuse to think they are coming soon.
You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you have any optimism.

One of the guys at work is a bit of a "know it all" and has said since almost the beginning of the show he thinks Robb's going to die, that Jon Snow would become the leader of the blackcloaks, and that Jaime would prove to be "the best character and not evil".
I think he's lying when he said he hasn't read the books.

Liar. If he hasn't read the books, he should be working as a fricking soothsayer at the carnival.

He will have it out for Winter 2014. He does NOT want the show to pass him up. He said in the emmy livecast that he has this season, next season (2nd half of SOS and some of AFFC/ADWD), the recombined AFFC and ADWD story which he said will take about 2 seasons, and with the way Winds is set up, I think it may rival SOS and take up 2 seasons. Martin hasn't had the pressure from the show like he does now.
So 5-6 years. Don't think he will have Spring fully complete

While it's true that there is a good chance I am disappointed, it would suck to wait this whole time without any optimism. I realize 2014 is a serious longshot, but it's not entirely impossible.

You can't be serious with this. It's his life's work and his legacy. Yes he is enjoying travelling, but I think he is feeling the pressure from the show and ready to knock some POV's out. He has made recent comments about how the show is creeping and he knows he needs to keep moving forward. Before he had no pressure to move fast. Hence long arse time between books. There is a pressure now unlike any he has felt. He may say frick it in the end, but I am not choosing to have such a dismal outlook on something so freaking awesome.

I'm not buying that something as detailed as this series, isn't important to the writer.

7 years of reading his blog bro. He commented many times during that time that he had so much going on that he didn't have time to work or think about the series as much any more.
Someone who gave a shite about the series would work while out of town, as much as he is out of town.
Sorry, I'm bitter.

That's fine. Let a Dream of Spring hit theaters 2 years later.

So that translates to, "He doesn't care about his life's work." Gotcha
The dude became a celebrity with lots of money. He got out of hand with how little time he spent on his most important work, but I seriously think he has a handle on it now. It's different than when he first started slacking. The show is the difference.
