This might be my last nonreader thread since I will probably begin to learn to read over the summer. Some of you might have better patience than me, but I don't think I can wait a year.

;(

I want to stay here but depending on how it ends tonight, I might not be able to.

Maybe I should just stop in the books where the show is, but I'd be afraid something might be spoiled for me in the future.

i'm about a quarter of the way through book 1 and i'm not sure how i want to go about this. i like watching the show and being surprised at shite like last week. if i finish the books before next season i lose that element. i may just catch up to the end of season 3 in the books then stop til after next season

how many books are there, and would you start from the beginning or just where you are in the show?

something like skip the first 2 books and start where there's new material?

To me watching a show or movies isn't that bad when you know what happens because its cool to see it happen. Its not as interesting the other way around and is much harder to get into the books when you know what happens

I just started book 1 as well. I'm just going to read the first 2, maybe half of book 3 and wait it out. I'm not going to read ahead because the show is so good I don't want to be spoiled. Reading does make things a bit clearer and you have a lot less questions about what happens.

IMO, reading doesn't ruin the experience. The show complemenst the books. Especially the cities and castles. And for those wanting to stop where the show stops...good luck with that

Nooo, I'd start at Book 1. Jumping into straight book 3 might be confusing since there might be things referenced from the earlier 2 books that haven't been touched on in the show. For instance, I found out reading that small snippet of the RW that was posted here that one character's location during the wedding is totally different than his/her location during the wedding in the book.

Now if I want to stop reading where the show has stopped, or completely finish Book 3 and watch the later half of it next season, OR just finish all of the books written so far, I haven't decided yet.
