Good episode last night. They seemed to show almost every different story except for GusGus which I'm sure nobody but John Bradley's parents give a frick about.
I thought kinda the same thing. I've been waiting for those two to get together on screen, and looks like I finally get my wish. Two great, great characters. Arya was awesome when it was her and Tywin on screen, so her and Hound should be even better. I figured he recognizes her heart and bravery and will protect her (sort of like he did several times with Sansa...and surely being that the two are related).
Still loving the Jamie/Brienne shite. I hope they don't end up together, but I like that Jamie likes her enough to want to save her. He's a decent guy underneath, and has learned a lot I guess. But I still want him to be a dick, because that's when he's at his most awesome. Little disappointed that he didn't a) kick some arse left-handed, and b) toss Locke into the bear pit. Both of those would've been awesome.
The whole scene with Theon was just weird. I get that the a-hole kid was trying to prove that Theon, even in this fricked up situation, would put the pussy on a pedastal, but still. Either go somewhere with that storyline or fricking end it. Least we got to see some full frontal I guess.
Same with Bran's group (Hodor). So boring, and now we have to put up with Osha bitching at Jojen. It's boring.
The Dany scene was pretty cool, but her MO seems to be the same...pass by cities, threaten to attack if slaves aren't released (so she can then swipe them up as her "army"), and move along. It's cool and she's a badass, but I hope we see her get across the goddamn sea some time soon. I don't want it to get too repetitive.
Loved the scene with Tywin (obviously) and Joffrey. Tywin being all like "Your Grace.." and shite, but ultimately he was schooling his grandson. I was actually surprised to see Joffrey worried about something legitimate...the dragons. usually he's only concerned with stupid shite.
Maergery annoys the shite out of me now. Sansa too. I was glad they were both on screen at the same time to get screen time out of the way. Sansa being pissed about having to sick Tyrion's duck was funny though. Also, Tyrion seems to be completely immasculinized lately...for a while, he was in all kinds of awesome scenes and was dropping knowledge on everyone, and now he's just begging whores not to leave him. I want to see badass Tyrion soon...the one who bangs everything he sees and bitchslaps nephew kings. Also I need more Bron in my life.
I liked the scene with Gendry and Melissandre and him learning his heritage. That was cool, and the ships strewn around Blackwater Bay looked awesome.
Every time Ygritte talks, it makes me want to slap her. But I like the scenes with her and Jon Snow. He knows they're fricked, and I assume wants to run away with his ginger poon and live boringly ever after.

I'm guessing the Hound will continue her "killing training" she's been receiving for the last season and a half.

That is interesting the he has been saving and or saving Stark girls - he seems to have some affinity for them, not sure what the connection is tho. Is it house related?

Agreed - once the girls showed up it was obvious what the next 5 mins were going to be. END IT.

Agreed - need her slave in a more risque outfit (like before) to keep this story interesting. Wasn't Jorah supposed to run a task for Dany? I forgot what she asked of him...

Best scene of the ep. Tywin isn't as forward-thinking and wise as we are lead to believe, tho. Or maybe he's just arrogant.

This - we better get paid off soon for the large investment we've had with their zzzzzzzzz scenes lately.

Yeah his character became interesting to me at the end of last season with Sansa and then he disappeared. Hope we get more of that

Was fully expecting this but I guess it would have started an all out massacre which he could not have helped much in without his sword hand I guess. As said his character development has been fantastic to watch

The troll job becomes more epic. Never want to see a dude lose his piece though

Seem to go hand in hand with me. Shows how much of a boss Tywin is. He has completely changed the power dynamic in Kings Landing and has rustled everyone's jimmies.

find out who the Juntai's (sp) powerful friends are.

This is for all intents and purposes a completely alternate reality, and so there is no temporal relationship to our reality, in my opinion.
Except that the entire story line mirrors the War of the Roses in England - minus the magical shite.
The Stark-Lannister feud seems taken straight from the York-Lancaster feud from that war.

Maybe it has to do with how Ned was offed

I agree with him though. They have enough problems close to home that they cant waste valuable resources seeing what kind of threats exist halfway across the world

That's right... who would his powerful friends be I wonder? As far as the eastern continent goes, who is the most powerful? Maybe he has friends in Westeroes.

FIFY
Like I said, comparable, but short-minded, in my opinion, to say their morals are just like those of medieval times. Likewise, the war of the roses was at the end of the middle ages, so closer to renaissance times. So are you saying that the morals are more like at the end of roman empire or beginning of the rennaisance? See? it is silly to say "living in these times."

Which brings up an interesting topic - we'll also see how Jaime is once he gets back with Cersei and Tywin, etc (if he gets back to Kings Landing).
He seems like a good guy now, but his family might not recognize or appreciate what he has become.
What do you think?
i think all the lannisters seem to fall in line with whatever tywin wants. this was brought up in actual dialogue by shae and was shown to us with the tywin/joffrey convo.

i think he possesses a shred of morality that his brother and the lannisters save for tyrion (and maybe jamie) do not.

I get your point, that GoT has its own moral system and must be judged according to it, etc. However, that moral system is clearly copied, to a large extent, straight from our collective memory of what a middle aged moral code was.
In that sense, the work is not all that original, and you could certainly see why the viewer would place him or herself "in those times" without giving it much critical thought.

He wrapped the same story in a new history. Big deal. The interesting part of GoT to me is the characters, not the fantasy world he "created."

I think it's prolly both, but mainly arrogance. He seems to think that the whole "chick with dragons" thing is not all it's cracked up to be, and is basing his opinions on lore from 300+ years ago, and has kind of an "out of sight, out of mind" approach to it. However, he always seems to be pretty well-informed about just about everything, so surely he has to know that the dragons fricked Astapor up. So maybe he was also trying to keep Joffrey in the dark so he doesn't have a "teenage king scared shitless and going mad" on his hands..?
