Agreed.

Well, it's the information we have to go off of.
Yeah that was my thinking. Robb charged a certain family with retaking Winterfell and that's where Theon was.
I never thought about the possibility that someone else got him, and overlooked the fact that Winterfell burned. However, it seems likely that the family who went back North is the family who has Theon.

When Theon held Winterfell, and gave that speech before being knocked out.

But when he made his escape, he didn't know where he was; had it been Winterfell he'd probably know his way around and not get nearly arse raped by some dude.

Even if somebody didn't notice the Bolton sigil on Lord Bolton's chest, there's also the scene where Jaimie and Brienne are captured on the bridge by Bolton soldiers. Jaimie sees their flag and makes a comment about what it represents.

i mean..i can put two and two together now but at the time i didn't know what or who he was talking about so i didn't really put it at the top of my "things to remember for future episodes" list, especially with all the other stuff going on

that was actually the first time I noticed it. But it's possible that I only noticed it because the bookworms had already spoiled it for me by then.

I caught it b/c J is so hard to understand sometimes that I rewind until I figure out what he's talking about. Finally realized he was saying "The flayed man of Bolton." That's when I started realizing what that X symbol represented.

yea, I have to rewatch it with subtitles because I can't understand them half the time. Especially Jamie and Ygritte.

I always saw the X and assumed. But you also have to think that everyone used that type or thing to hold prisoners and that's where the guys got the symbol from.

I figured they copied it from the Romans/Jews who crucified Jesus. It never crossed my mind it was something unique to a house.

Great episode.
It is clear that a lot of show watchers haven't rewatched season 2. A lot of questions could be answered from S2 but who has time to do that.

oh the fat boys "ancient artifact" is an obsidian glass arrowhead dagger that he found in s2e8 when they were digging latrine pits in the snow and unearthed a tablet "from the 1st men" and underneath it was an " old night's watch cloak" that had "dragon's glass" wrapped up in it.
