Nope. The clues are there. It has to be. He was knocked out in Winterfell. He woke up in captivity. The way I read that is he never left Winterfell. If you don't know which family currently holds Winterfell all I can say that is you are missing some details.

Yep.

I get that some people are "one and done," but some of us have been comparing notes and discussing theories for a while now. Of course, not all of our theories turn out to be correct. No way to know who's going to stay loyal to whom.

when you say currently holds, are you saying there is someone occupying it right now? It was burned down to the ground, I thought.

I suppose that is a bit of a vague point for me. As I said, my theory could be wrong.

Roose Bolton told Robb he would send his bastard to retake Winterfell.

Roose, of course, is this guy to the left of Carstark:

But when he made his escape, he didn't know where he was; had it been Winterfell he'd probably know his way around and not get nearly arse raped by some dude.

I think he meant that Theon was captured at Winterfell. No one is suggesting that's where he is now.

just because he said that, doesn't necessarily mean that is who got to him first. The only way nonbook readers would have figured it out was if they know every single house banner/sign. Clearly, most of us didn't have this one memorized.

No, I was. I guess I was wrong. I'm not sure that changes my theory about who has him, though.

Well, it's the information we have to go off of.

I hate the book readers. They think they are so much smarter than us. Probably in their "literate" thread calling us hodors

Very true. But, those who have him is made apparent if you look a the sigils/coat of arms/crests on the armor in the ranks of Robb Starks army.

no one has the time to put that shite together

well we know he went to winterfell to get theon and save winterfell. we know rob said that if the islanders gave up theon they could go home. and it certainly looked like they gave him up. plus who else could have theon since the bastard's crew was right outside the gates (with that frickING horn)

the ruse was further shown when, as soon as theon said the boys were alive, the troll face came out and he was back on the X
