TLDR incoming: 1) Arya killing the NK...had never met him; did not meet him on the battlefield; bypassed a slew of Whitewalkers to "assassinate" him to save the day.
Meh: not the worst ending for the NK but doesn't make a whole lot of sense because...she has no idea what Whitewalkers or the NK looks like...tough to kill someone you don't actually have a visual representation to enact thekill...He was threatening Bran! But by her knowledge, he may have been a sycophant of one of the old dead guys behind him she ran by and was just setting the stage...no announcements were made...no pronouncements of doom were called out...whatever
2) Dothraki are "LIGHT CAVALRY"!. They don't attack head on, they attack the edges and melt away...so why not here? Artillery up front...WTF?!?
I could go into an extended breakdown of the Winterfell assualt that would paint a solid pic of the good guys winning based on logic and solid military tactics...but the series has moved on so I will as well

Ep $: cool with the reset of forces and honor to the dead. Good stuff. Head South.

3) WTF: Rhaegal goes down because Euron is firing ballista through?over?around? large sections of rock and stone...alrighty then
4) down to one dragon, roll around to the back side of the fleet where the ballistas can't make a 180 due to sails, men, fairly primitive systems...nah, just bail and have the fleet wiped out.../sigh

I will watch...because there are only 2 episodes left and I LOVED the books. I started reading the series before anyone I know or have ever met. I have ADORED the HBO representation of the "UNWRITTEN" ending. But this has gotten so sad. Some of the story lines are satisfying and an absolute pleasure to watch on the screen...but the main plot line is atrocious and simplistic without a serious thought for logical conclusions. How are Jon and Dany not getting married and she will just be the "Primary" within the marriage. Massive death and destruction avoided. She gets what she wants. He tempers her and provides a shield and legitimacy she didn't hold previously. Good guys win big!!!!

But no. Illogical decisions by previously logical people reign and drama for the sake of drama ensues.

The books and the series has been predicated on political strife and intelligent individuals overcoming emotional decisions...until now...until now...

This board is so county now.

They spend years setting up Arya as an assassin and show her trained by the best of the best her entire life. They also show her wearing out Brienne and doing the drop knife move against Brienne episodes ago. They set up her sneaking into the Godswood and Jon asking her how she sneaked up on him.

It’s all there.

It’s all there in this episode as well.

Just a bunch of whiny bitches in here.

How does Arya know who to assassinate? Was there a photograph? Met previously? In an episode where he was encountered? No to all. He was just another dead guy with a sword or weapon. She had no clue. The Whitewalker who had his hair blown while she 60 mph by could have been the NK. "He was confronting Bran!!!" He was standing next to him, no words were spoken. By logic of the next episode he could have been part of a parlay party...just a rep...NO LOGIC!

I enjoyed the gist of the episode. There were just a couple of stupid WTF moments.

There NO reason Cersi shouldn’t have just destroyed every single person outside that wall. Kill Dany and that dragon and it’s all over.

Well they spent the whole previous episode saying “the night king is coming for Bran” so obviously he’s the one that’s, ya know, going for Bran

My issue wasn’t about Arya. I’m fine with the storyline and her being the one. It’s the NK that doesn’t make sense. He was built up to be this unstoppable force. His wights didn’t even see battle. And he was taken down so easily.

the creepy ice man starting to draw his sword to kill her brother was prob a huge clue.

To the 2 previous posters: I don't "HATE" any of it. Just As LOTR and Marvel were brought to the screen and made "Real LIFE", I enjoyed the hell out of all of this. But it is a slap in the face when the actions of the major characters don't correspond to basic logic. Targaryens intermarried, rode dragons, and didn't bow to the norms of other Westeros or Eastern rulers...so why the drama between Jon and Dany?? He has already bent the knee. Go with the marriage and temper her dark side, bring in the North, and never make a real ruling decision because your dominate wife will, with your esteemed counsel...its obvious yet completely AVOIDED!

The only real drama that SHOULD be left is the end of Cersei, the Mountain, and Euron. The rest should be a foregone conclusion...but not according to the scenes we are witnessing...just /sigh

He barely got a hand on it! He walked a mile to the tree setting without touching the sword and had 50+ undead in the area with him. NO WORDS WERE SPOKEN. With ONE CHANCE to end the NK...how does she act without reassuring herself that this is the guy? Never met, no combat previously (unlike Jon), and he isn't that much different from the Whitewalkers behind him. Seriously! Its not a knock on the character. Arya is...I'm honestly trying to find a character I like better to insinuate here...the coolest character in the books and show. The revenge arc has been so...SATISFYING. Really. I can't imagine an argument otherwise.

But for this situation...it doesn't work. There is no file, no jacket, no TV report. The guy she stabbed could have been just another WW. Maybe the equivalent of her father's executioner.

Cool. So sneaking up on someone means you can fire ballista through stone without concern for trajectory of missiles...GOOD TO KNOW

I get everyones frustration who really got in depth with the story, but you cant say that the show is an awful ending thus yet. Albeit the unanswered loops, it’s still been enjoyable.

I watched LOST through its entirety so Im not upset with Thrones, even though I do agree that the white walkers story throughout the show is basically worthless. But I say that because I personally enjoy the political battle between the houses more so than what the white walkers brought to the table. Jmo...

This is not just an "I read the books" melt, but an "I read the books before anyone else" melt.

I remember my first book too!

In a show where we have someone who can turn into a bird, a girl who can put a dead persons face on, a woman who can ride dragons, a guy who can come to the rescue with a simple saying and a coin (Jaqen H'ghar).... anything should be believable in this show.

My biggest gripe in the 3rd episode is the video quality and it being foggy and dark and supposedly the producers saying they wanted it to seem believable... go to my first paragraph why I think that it’s nonsense to try to make the show seem “believable...”

I somehow doubt you have ever read of book of consequence with an eye for logic in its critical outcomes...but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Now, address the concerns presented, the logic assaulted, and the outcomes decried. If you need help with the breakdown of what I've presented...just ask grasshopper.
