What do we make of Jon Snow's ending at the end of book 5?

My personal opinion is that Melisandre revives him. If Thoros can revive Dondarion so many times then surely Melisandre can revive Jon once. Also, since Jon will have died this ends his life long service to the nights watch. Of course this is all conjecture on my part.

Okay I like your line of thinking. So now Jon's free to leave and reassert himself at Winterfell, except he turned down Stannis' offer for legitimacy. I really wish they didn't leave us with such a cliffhanger regarding Stannis' invasion of Winterfell. I'm pretty sure Ramsay Bolton is bluffing with his letter, as I don't see how Theon could have escaped when Stannis' force was allegedly crushed.

The common assumption is that Ramsay didn't send that letter. Ramsey hated the word "bastard" with a passion...while other characters like a certain King Beyond the Wall used it at every opportunity around Jon.

That's because there has always been a Stark in Winterfell since Greyjoy seized it.

Michelle Fairley's hbo GoT contract was only for 3 seasons. I dont think they are pursuing the Uncat storyline, could be wrong

It's a pretty big storyline.

That would be extremely disappointing. I've been good with pretty much all the changes from the books (some more then others). But that'd be one of those that I'd be pretty pissed about if they cut it out all together.

ETA: It's my understanding that GoT and Suits has totally different shooting schedules and if they stay true to the books with her storyline she's not around much at all next season. Her role on Suits is only reoccurring and even Varys who we know is still on the show has made an appearance over there.

The real question, to me at least, is exactly how dead is he (or will he be) from the stabbings. Should he be "dead enough" to negate his Nightwatch vows? But not dead enough so that he is a kind of un-person like Cat and even Dondarion? I really don't want to see a truly dead Jon who has been brought back to life.

Of course with Jon, he can warg into something for a while if his body is dead. I think he can at least.

From what I got, I don't think he has fully realized his ability to do so yet. It seems like Ghost's senses interfere with his own at times, but I don't think he's actually warged yet. And as for his vows, I feel like Jon's getting really antsy to take sides and insert himself into this war.

I don't think it was a person, I believe it was Nymeria/Ayra as a warg.

Right, but I don't believe it will happen that way if they do it in the show. They haven't mentioned Nymeria since Arya ran her off. And they barely show the Dire Wolves as it is.

Makes since. I was pissed when Martin killed off Jon Snow. He and Tiran Lanister are my favorite charecters. I'd like to see Martin go ahead and make winter come already, start the great battle and set up all the players so we can have some clue what direction he is taking us in.

If you read "A Dance with Dragons," (and it appears you have) you'd know that winter has officially arrived, which is indicated in the epilogue with the arrival of the white raven. In addition the next book is titled, "The Winds of Winter."

I was as well. It didn't hit me as much as the other stark deaths, more disgusted with Martin than anything. I'd like a couple characters I care about to be there at the finish line.

Disgusted with Martin?! I'm so sorry he offended your sensibilities. In defense of Jon Snow's killers, Snow DID make a very controversial decision in letting the wildlings cross through the wall without any resistance whatsoever. Who's to say that the other crows don't think that Jon is betraying his vows through his actions?

Wait, people thought Jon Snow was killed?

It is extremely obvious from the book that he isn't dead.

What is SO obvious in the book to indicate that he isn't dead? The fact that it's the third-to-last chapter before the epilogue? Are we just assuming that Melisandre will bring him back to life?

Could you give me some supporting facts? I can't remember anything that indicated that he was still alive. I guees I was too pissed off to care.
