So guess the necklace wasn't poison after all. We still don't know how Joffrey was poisoned though.

Dunno if it's kosher to talk about past events in the middle ground thread....

But FWIW, in the books it was a gem on Sansa's hairnet....so they are going pretty far afield if it wasn't the necklace either.

I mean, it's been basically answered in this episode, but why would Littlefinger take time to forge a necklace? It's not as if he couldn't afford a regular one. And if it was a regular necklace, why even bring the necklace up?

Well I didn't see any poison come out of it when he smashed one of the crystals. What I took out of it was that the necklace was pointless and only created for the drunk fool to give to Sansa and make her trust him.

Yea that's what I was thinking.

Jumping subjects: how much is J R Martin involved with the producers/writers/directors of the show? He's at all the premieres and extra footage.

He needs to involve himself less with the show and more with writing the damn books.

I think Tommen might be the best King yet. He seems very level headed. Maybe Margary will be betrothed to him when he comes of age. Of course, she might be in her 30s by then.

The crystal IS the poison (No spoilers ahead of the show in what follows):

quote:

The strangler is a rare poison, which makes the person unable to breathe. The knowledge of how to make the poison is known to the alchemists of Lys, the Faceless Men of Braavos and the Maesters of the Citadel. The Asshai'i have a name for the plant and the Alchemists of Lys a name for the crystal but to the maesters it is known as the strangler.

quote:

The poison is made from plants that are only found on islands in the Jade Sea. The leaves of the plant are picked and aged, then soaked in a wash of limes, sugar water and rare spices from the Summer Islands. The leaves are then discarded, but the liquid is kept and thickened with ash and allowed to crystallize. It turns a deep purple color.

but the necklace was blue. If each crystal was poison, it would have been a more effective scene if he had taken off a crystal and dropped one into a cup.

I'm not trying to argue, I believe you that the necklace crystals were poison.
