Yeah I never played baseball. Like I said, I had a huge imagination and Goonies was perfect for that.

Had? What happened to it?

I'd pick Goonies because it was a really fun movie to watch. Sure Sandlot is great, and has more sentimental value, but Goonies is a movie I wouldn't mind watching once a month.

I say that, but I own Sandlot.

Nothing I guess. Just saying as a child I was very imaginative.

At some point when you grow up you lose some that wouldn't you say, if even just a small amount of it???

Goonies represents everything that was awesome about being a kid growing up in the 80s imo.

Terrible economy and lots of rain.

The Goonies was deeper, but Sandlot was a lot more fun.

I never cared for baseball growing up, but riding bikes through the woods, exploring caves, building "inventions", and having adventures were my thing. I loved the goonies. What kid didn't want to go searching for pirate treasure? Sandlot was good and I watched it a few times, but I wore out several VHS copies of the Goonies. I have a DVD sitting on the shelf right now. I haven't seen the Sandlot in years.

Completely different movies on every level.

Goonies - is more like The Lost Boys - it's a movie sold to kids seeing themselves as adults; it isn't about growing up; it's about kids saving the day for adults. An 80's classic which had adult danger and that great 80's ploy where the kids are on equal footing with adults (and usually smarter.)

Sandlot - is more like Stand By Me - it's a movie aimed at family (parents) nostalgic about growing up and lost innocence because there's a real separation between the two worlds.

Goonies doesn't age well because as an adult you now find it maddeningly preposterous how adults turn everything over to kids.

Sandlot will always last because it's about friends you had in your youth.

Tough one for me. But I'm gonna roll with Goonies.

I am torn on this subject. Goonies had a One Eye Willie and Booty traps.....Sandlot had Smalls and a hot lifeguard.

You are using characters against actors?

I'm a little older than you 80's kids. I graduated from high school in 1985. I saw the Goonies and thought, fun movie but kinda childish and
outlandish. Don't get me wrong, I love movies about kids, Stand By Me is one of my all time favorite movies about kids growing up. But the acting was too cheesy for me.

The Sandlot was a movie I watched on HBO one day when I was bored. I had NO clue that it would be as good as it was. I was expecting a simple kids baseball movie like Angels in the Outfield. Instead, I got an awesome story with lots of depth and imagination.

Sandlot all the way for me.

Sandlot was awesome, no doubt.

Goonies was just better. Better actors, better script, better quality.

The end of Sandlot was better than the end of Goonies, though.

Better script sure I can see that. It's more complicated.

Better actors? Really? What they grow up to be has nothing to do with it. I've never heard anyone complain about the child acting in Sandlot. The entire crew of the Sandlit team were memorable characters, not so much with the goonies.

And I wouldn't agree with better quality either. Sandlot has aged better IMO. If you took somebody that had never seen either movie, I'd be willing to bet Sandlot would be their choice for the better movie.

Goonies in a landslide!!!

FWIW, Sandlot is a good movie that I care for deeply but The Goonies is and will be the better movie in a side by side comparison. For God's sake Spielberg wrote the damn story!

I can't wait to have kids to show them awesome movies like; the goonies, the Sandlot, Heavyweights, etc.
